"You are NOT going in there! Our parents just disappeared, you were frozen, and out of nowhere a stone entrance to who knows what appears out of nowhere, and you just decide, 'hmmm, I think I'm gonna go in there', what's wrong with you?!" Liana was not only scared right now, but frustrated. Everything just happened so quickly it was like there wasn't enough time to breathe.
"Okay, then what's your idea? Just stand here doing nothing and wait? I'm pretty sure that thing showed up for a reason!" Gabe sounded nervous as he spoke.
"First of all, keep your voice down, that thing echoes and it's freaky. But also, we don't know what this thing is, and yet you still want to venture into it?" Liana was interested in it, too, but it freaked her out, and her parents were gone, so she was still going to argue her point.
"Admit it, there is nothing else we can do, and you want to go in too." Gabe clearly really wanted her to get convinced. After all, what has he done without Liana?
Liana rolled her eyes. She knew she would regret this. "Oh my god, I can't believe I'm doing this, but fine I'll come. Just don't say anything or make noise in there. We don't know what it leads to." Liana should not have said yes.
Reluctantly she followed Gabe into the eerie entrance. But one step in gave Liana a horrible feeling.
"Wait-" She felt like they had forgotten something.
"You're not backing out on me, I'm not going alone, but I am going, so you have to come with me." Gabe exclaimed.
"I'll come, but I feel like we forgot something. Something that we will need for the inside of this place." Liana was thinking hard now.
"We weren't carrying anything when we were hiking. Mom and Dad had the baskets of food, nothing else." Gabe sounded annoyed. He has always been a bit impatient.
"I know, but, just hold on. Don't go any further in. I'll be right back." Liana cautiously stepped out of the tunnel. She turned around instinctively. There was a large pine tree that wasn't there before. She circled the tree, and halfway around it, she noticed something attached to it. It released a small eerie sound, that Liana could not identify. The something that was attached to the thing- it looked like a book- looked like a very old piece of parchment. Liana reached for the parchment, not acknowledging what she was doing.
The second she touched it a shock went through her whole body. That moment there was a shriek from a tunnel. Liana hadn't let go of the parchment. She was shaking from the shock, but couldn't just leave the parchment there.
     Liana bolted toward the tunnel.
