to my daughter

i knew it'll not be simple
i knew it all along
that is w h y
i didn't tell you;
that is w h y
i've been keeping this
all my life.

im sorry im not your mom
your a c t u a l mom
your b i r t h mom
im just a stranger
who loves you
who needs you
when i first saw
your sweet smile

you murmured language
i never understood,
you giggled like
you're the happiest
baby on earth,
you smiled so beautifully
when what i did
was just looking at you,
you brought me the feeling
that i could never dreamed of;
the feeling of being a m o t h e r.

so
if this truth's hurt
i'll just take it
as a sign that
you too,
love me a lot.

honey,
i might not be your mom
but
you'll a l w a y s be my daughter.

thank you
for being born
into this world
and give me
the happiness
that i couldn't
afford before.

to my daughter,
lily.

a/n : i wrote this thought from a perspective of a single adoptive mother cause i've been inspired by their love towards the child. they just love their baby so much and willing to do anything for 'em eventhough they're not related by blood. this kind of people really deserve my respect.
