Flame of the past: Natsu x Reader

At the inn

You feel yourself starting to blush. 'Why am I blushing, I don't have feelings for Natsu.' You think before you release your hand out of Natsu's grip. Natsu looks at you, then looks away. From the corner of your eye you can see him getting a slight blush on his cheeks. You turn around to see Gray looking at you and Natsu walking away from the main road. He is smiling. You wonder why. "He, (y/n)?'' You hear Natsu say waking you from your thoughts. ''Yeah?'' You say looking back at him. ''Were you...lonely?'' Natsu says, not looking at your face. ''...Yes'' You answer looking down. You feel tears starting to take form in the corner of your eyes. While you're fighting to keep them back you hear Natsu mumble something. ''What was that?'' You ask wiping away a single tear that some how managed to take form. ''I'm sorry...I'm so, so sorry. It's all my fault that you got cursed. I should have been there for you. I'm so sorry.'' You look at Natsu. He is crying. You float in front of him and make him stop walking. You than take his face in your hands and force him to look at you. ''Natsu...It was not your fault. None of it was your fault. The only person to blame here is me. Since I became an
S-class wizard, I got to full of myself. I thought I could handle anything. I got sloppy. The only person to blame for my disappearing...is me.'' You can't seem to stop the tears streaming down your cheeks. Natsu looks at you with shock on his face. ''You...tried.'' He says after a few seconds of silence. ''I didn't.'' You let go of his face and fall to the ground. lowering your head. Making your tears drip on the ground bellow you. You can't stop your intense sobbing. A minute later Natsu drops to the floor next to you and hugs you. You hug back. It feels like you two were sitting like that for hours. Suddenly you let go of Natsu and jump up. "Enough crying for one day.'' You say with a cheerful voice. ''We should get going, finish this mission, and get back to the others. If we take to long they might get worried.'' You stick out your hand to help Natsu up. But he refuses to take it and jumps up on his own. "Yeah we should get going. Let's get you those jewels.'' Natsu says as he flashes you a big smile. You smile back at him and start walking down the road again. Barely talking

As you and Natsu reach the village it's almost dark already. ''We should finish this and than stay over night. I don't want to walk down that long road in the middle of the night.'' You say as you walk past an inn. Natsu nods. "I'll go check us in. You go finish that job alright?'' He says. ''Yeah sure.'' You say. You two part ways. 

When you arrive at the mayor's house. The door open almost immediately after the fist time you knocked. "Oh dear, I'm so glad you're alive.'' The mayor's wife opens the door and wraps her arms around you. ''When no one came to bother us anymore, but you didn't return either we send some on to check it out. They said you were cursed. Oh dear, oh dear, I'm so glad you're here.'' She releases you from the hug and leads you inside. While walking down the hall, there are so meany people thanking you for what you did. You nod and tell them all it was your pleasure. As soon as you reach the mayor's office, the mayor runs out and hugs you as well. Just like his wife did. ''Oh dear, I'm so glad you're here.'' He says. You smile. Everyone is so nice here. "Come in, come in.'' He says as he ushers you inside of his office. You sit down at his desk. He sits on top of it in front of you. ''Dear, first of all I want to thank you for what you did for us. You eliminated those pests and saved us all. And of course we will give you a reward.'' He hand you a huge sack filled with jewels. ''It's a bit more than we told you because you almost died at our hands.'' "Thank you so much.'' You say as you look at the sack. ''Oh and I need to tell you something.'' You grab you backpack and hand it to the mayor. He drops it immediately. "What is in this bag child?'' He asks. ''The souls of the evil doers. It is up to you to decide what you want to do with them.'' You look at the mayor's confused face. ''You mean they aren't dead?'' he asks. You explain what your powers do and what the pearls mean to the mayor. The mayor nods after you complete your story. ''I see.'' He says as he looks at the pearls you took out of the bag to show him. ''I will keep them here.'' He says after some time. "The deserve to be punished and this sounds like an excellent punishment.'' You nod as you get up from your chair. "I understand. I must return to my friends now. I am glad I could be of service to you.'' You say as you start walking towards the door. ''Of course, and dear (y/n), thanks again for what you did.'' You nod. ''It was my pleasure sir.'' You open the door and walk out. 

Once you reach the inn where Natsu was has checked in you see him sitting out side. "Oh he, Natsu, why are you sitting outside?'' You asks as you start floating closer to him. ''Uhm, (y/n)." He says. ''Yes?'' You say questionally. ''There was only one free room so uhm...I uhm...'' You start laughing. "It's fine Natsu. I have no problem with sharing a room with you.'' You say. "Really?'' Natsu asks looking up at you.  ''Of course. We're best friends right.'' You say in a chipper way. ''Yeah of course.'' Natsu says as he jumps up and starts walking in with you. 

Once you enter your room you see there is only one bed you look at Natsu. ''Natsu...'' "It's fine, i'll sleep on the floor.'' He says before could finish you sentence. ''That doesn't seem necessary.'' You say as you feel yourself blushing. ''You can sleep in the bed with me.'' Natsu looks at you and nods. You can see him blushing as well. You than smile at him. ''But don't get any ideas alright you perv.'' You say laughing. ''Of course not.'' Natsu says smiling. ''I wont do anything unless you want me to.''
