Patrick POV:

I FaceTime Pete, our three boys next to me. Declan was six months, Saint was eight months, and Bronx was four.

Pete picks up, luckily.

"Hey guys! I miss you all so much!" Pete exclaims.
"I miss you too daddy!!" Bronx exclaims. Declan and Saint were playing with each other on the ground, giggles being heard through the iPad.

Bronx talks to Pete for an hour about what's been going on here in Chicago, and Pete listens very carefully. Declan and Saint fall asleep, cuddling each other. I put the kids to bed and then come back.

"Hey 'Trick, I miss you babe" he whispers. I smile as a few tears slip from my eyes. "Oh baby, please don't cry"
"I can't help it Pete. I go to bed every night knowing I might not ever talk to you again. I can't lose you" I say, starting to breathe quickly.
"Tricky calm down honey, I'm okay, see?" He coos through the screen.
"When can I see you again? I want to hug you and kiss you and cuddle with you. It's been 186 days since you left.." I mumble.
"Tricky I don't know, I'm hoping the war will be over soon"
"I don't know why you joined the army Pete. You're hurting all of us" I say crying and hang up. I turn off the iPad and head to take a shower. I turn the water on so hot that it turns my skin pink. I start sobbing and stay in the shower until the water hurts because it's so cold. I put on Pete's sweatshirt and his sweats, crawling under my covers. I fall asleep looking at the picture of all of us as a family.

Pete POV:

"'Trick wait-" I start to say before he hangs up. I place my head in my hands and set the iPad next to me in my cot. The other soldiers and I were all taking advantage of being able to sleep, and we always call our families before we do. I fall asleep clutching onto a picture of us as a family. (It is the same picture that Patrick has)

Patrick POV:

I officially wake up at 8 AM, but I woke up six different times from nightmares. I hear footsteps in Declan's room so I walk in and find Bronx standing next to the crib. Declan was still sound asleep, his fingers in his mouth.
"Morning Bronx" I say gently smiling.

He looks over and giggles,"morning daddy!" He exclaims. I pick him up and take him downstairs. I hear buzzing on the table so I walk over. The iPad was ringing and it said from Pete. I run upstairs crying, not wanting to talk to him. Bronx was watching tv.

Pete POV:

Please answer Patrick, please. All of a sudden the screen shows our living room. Bronx pulls it up to his face.
"Hi Daddy!!" He exclaims, SpongeBob on the tv behind him.
"Hey little man! Where's Daddy?" I ask softly.
"He ran upstairs. Daddy was upset" he says flatly.
"How do you know that bud?" I ask softly.
"Daddy was crying.." He says softly. I hear someone come downstairs. I can hear them in the back too.
"Bronx, put the iPad down its time for breakfast" Patrick says flatly
"But Daddy's on the iPad!!" He says with a huge smile. I see 'Trick come over and take the iPad from Bronx. He was in my clothes, his hair still messed up a lot. He looked exhausted. Bronx runs to the table and eats his pancakes.
"Hey Patrick" I say softly, hoping he wouldn't hang up. He nods, starting to fall back asleep. I smile and hang up when his head hits the table gently, the only noise was his snores and Bronx giggling in the dining room at the tv.

Patrick POV:

I wake up to Declan's crying so I head upstairs. I calm him down then take him down to his high chair. I set him in and then I go to the bathroom. All of a sudden I hear his wails and Bronx runs over as I exit.
"Bronx what happened?!" I ask as I head downstairs.
"I don't know Daddy, Declan just fell forward with his high chair" he whimpers and I nod.
Declan was face first on the tile floor in the kitchen. When I got closer, I realized his nose and forehead was scraped up. I carefully pick him up, going over to the sink to wash his cuts. He keeps sobbing and I felt so bad for leaving him.
"Shhhh baby boy, it's okay baby. Daddy is here, I'll take care of your boo-boos" I coo.

After I clean up his scrapes, I walk over to the couch and rock him back and forth to get him to stop crying. Bronx runs down.
"Daddy wants to know why Declan is crying so hard" he says softly, handing me the iPad. I take it and make sure Declan is wrapped in his blankie.
"Hey Tricky, Bronx called me and said he was worried about Declan. What happened?" He asks softly. I smile over at Bronx who was watching Paw Patrol.
"Declan flung himself face first onto the floor while he was in his high chair. I shouldn't have left to go to bathroom, I feel horrible" I says softly.
"Oh baby, don't feel bad. You couldn't have done anything, plus he will be okay soon I promise"
"Okay. Love you Petey"
"Love you too Pattycakes" he says and hangs up.

Two Weeks Later:

Pete hasn't talked to me in four days and I'm terrified. I hear a knock on the door so I run over. I open it and start bawling immediately. Pete was right in front of me. He hugs me tightly as I sob into his shirt.
"Please don't leave me again...." I choke out.
"I won't baby, I'm home for good" he whispers. I hear Bronx scream and then he hugs Pete super tightly.
"DADDY!!" He squeals. I let go so Pete can talk to Bronx.
"Hey little man! I missed you so much" Pete says picking up Bronx. I grab Saint and Declan and Saint clutches onto Pete immediately, babbling at Pete. Declan was still too young to understand anything that was happening, but his face lit up when Pete held him. We were finally back together as a family again. I missed this so much.
