The alarm blared loudly throughout the bedroom, immediately waking me up. I bounded up from the end of the bed, yipping happily for Owen to wake up as I tried to avoid stepping on him.
He reached out from under the blanket and slammed his hand down on the alarm, silencing the buzzing. I continued my assault on trying to wake him up with as many licks as I could give to any part of skin I saw.
I watched Owen, waiting for him to get up, but when he made no move to get out of bed, I cocked my head to the side, laid down and whined in confusion.
Owen?
I took a few hesitant scoots towards the sleeping human, keeping my head low.
Is he okay?
He snored loudly and I jumped back a bit, making a snorting sound and shaking my head. Oh, he's just sleeping. Silly me.
I bounced happily on the bed and moved towards Owen. I walked around the bed, stepping over Owen a few times, my tail wagging quickly, hitting Owen every now again as I made a pass.
Owen! Get up! Common we have work today!
Well, he did, I just got to go with him. I stood overtop Owen, and grabbed the blanket covering his face in my mouth and pulled it down and began licking his face. He groaned loudly and tried pushing me off. I nuzzled my head into his shoulder and shoved my nose between him and the mattress. If Owen wasn't going to get up, I'd make him get up.
"Bailey!" He groaned as he tried to shove my face away, but I just came back and forcefully shoved my whole head under him until I could stand up and force him to sit up.
"Okay Okay! I'm up! Ya damn dog.." He laughed and I yipped happily.
Finally! We gotta go!
After I finally managed to get Owen out of bed, I bolted out of the room and to the living room, more specifically the small sliding glass door that led outside. I still had yet to explore our new environment since we only moved here a few days ago. From what I've seen, the island is huge, and has tons of space to run around. The small clearing that housed Owen and I's bungalow was right next to the river, and backing up onto a line of trees with a gravel road down the center. It was easy to say I loved it here. Lots of space to run around and just let loose.
I barked impatiently at the door, waiting for Owen to come and let me out. Obviously I would have done it myself but I didn't have thumbs and couldn't open the door handle. I stood up on my hind legs, leaning on the glass and barked again, scratching at the door with my paws. Whatever Own was doing, he better do it faster. I had to go!
"Alright miss priss, here ya go" Owen sauntered into the room at a snails pace and opened the door slightly, I immediately pushed myself through the small gap and ran out onto the wrap around porch.
"Don't go running off!" Owen yelled out the door after me, and I stopped running immediately. My military training made it so I listened and did everything and anything my trainer, Owen, said. In this case he said don't run off, so I won't run off. My legs still twitched though as I had some very important business to take care of. Owen seemed to notice my restlessness.
He looked at me and sighed with a smile. "You can look around, just don't leave the property." I barked in response and trotted off in the grass, immediately taking care of my business. Sniffing around as I went, I realized just how many smells there were on this island, most were unrecognizable and I guessed they were reptilian. Owen was working with dinosaurs now, whatever those were. I had yet to find out what exactly 'dinosaurs' were. I was picturing really big, scaley dogs.
A whistle brought my attention back. I snapped my head around to see Owen standing on the deck, all dressed and leaning on the railing.
"Come!" He called, using one of the k-9 commands. I obliged and quickly ran over to him, jumping up the few stairs of the porch and perched myself right beside him, tilting my head up to look at him. My tongue hung out of my mouth happily and Owen laughed, bending down to rub behind my flopped ear. My back right foot started scratching at the ground widely as a result of Owen rubbing the spot behind my ear.
"Alright, let's get to work. Heel." I stood up and matched Owen's pace, trotting along side him until we reached his old bike. I have no idea why he bought it. It looked like it was going to break down any second, you could hear it a few miles away with how loud it was. I've tested it. And the headlight barely works.
Owen hopped on the bike and started it up.
"Come on Bailey, let's go!" He revved the engine and took off down the gravel road, I bolted off, the gravel getting kicked up behind me, chasing after the bike. Luckily I could keep up with it if I tried hard enough, but Owen didn't go full speed so I didn't have to sprint, only do a faster pace to keep up. I ran alongside the bike for a while until we pulled up to a large triangular building with a straw roof.
I skidded to a stop, letting my tongue hang out of my mouth as I panted profusely. My lungs only slightly burned, but were begging for breath. That run was always fun, I loved running, but it was never fun afterwards. Owen climbed off the bike, quickly rubbing my ribs in praise before telling me to heel and follow him into the building.
