Finally! It's up!

Gunshots rang through the store. I wished I could cover Flora's eyes. She shouldn't have to watch the zombies as they threw their bodies at the figure, only to be thrown away with more shots. Blood was in the air, and so was another smell, I couldn't identify. One thing is for sure, it wasn't a nice aroma, it was an odor.
The zombies were separated into three groups, I realized. A large group who continued to run towards the gunshots, whatever reason I don't know why. And an obviously smaller group, the smart zombies I am sure of, disappeared to the back exit. Knowing that there is probably plenty of food out in the world. More vulnerable food. And as my attention went back to whats in front of me, I realized where the second group was headed. At Flora and I.
Luckily, It was a very small group, the smallest of them all. A group of three zombies. My stomach churned when I realised they all looked the same. A family of zombies. A woman around 35, I'm guessing, with dark blond hair with blood matting it down, and wide, midnight eyes. A man around his late thirties, with so much blood and flesh that I couldn't see what color his hair was, but he had those same midnight eyes. And a tiny girl, probably a little older than Fora, same blond hair and dark black eyes. She continued to eye Flora.
I felt around for my bat, finding it quicker than I thought as it didn't stray far. I stood up just in time to hear the youngest girl scream and sprinted toward me. It actually wasn't that easy, the young girl was strong, she pushed my leg, making my stumble away. I could see her reaching for Flora, so I swung as hard as I could frantically. I felt the hard knock on my bat and two more screams. I looked back at the reaming two. Their eyes filled with anger, hatred, and hunger. They glared at my and with a swift movement, began to sprint.
I swung wildly, trying to hit any art of them. It took a few tries, but I finally hit one, the mom. The man grabbed my bat and yanked, I shrieked as I could see the flesh in his teeth as he growled at me and yanked again. With a grunt, I kicked him in the the stomach as hard as I could without shaking, and the again in the leg sending him down. I gripped my bat and swung at his face, looking the other way to avoid being splattered.
The man's screams died down quickly, like hitting the mute button. I wish it had been that easy. Like this whole thing was a movie. Where I could hit pause, rewind, and forward. And I could get out of the scary movie nightmare with just pushing a remote. Sadly though, we all know that that can't happen. This was real. This blood bath was now my life.
I actually felt bad for the zombies. Just a tiny bit. I mean, this is their resting place. Their FINAL: resting place. They won't get the funeral they should have gotten. There will be no tears, or weeping from the friends and family. There will be no words engraved on their tombstone to remember them. Not even their names. This is where they shall be, for possibly the rest of eternity. unless of course somehow the human race makes a striking comeback, which I sadly doubt.
