"We're here, miss" The driver said as he pulled over. Max slowly opened her eyes waking from her nap. She looked out the window, a maroon colored building stood there.
"Help me get my luggage" Max demanded. The driver quickly hopped off his seat, sprinting towards the car, pulling out her luggage as Max slowly opens the door, welcoming the chilly autumn air into her lungs. The driver handed her luggage to her muttering out one word, one word only.
  "Sorry"
He quickly drove off, the wheels, maybe intentionally, scraped over a puddle of water, causing them to splatter all over Max's gray jacket.
"Are you shitting me?" Max groaned before using her hands to wipe off the remaining mud on her shirt.
  "No use now"
"Hey are you alright?!" You screamed as you sprinted towards the brunette. Max only recognized you as 'The Two People At The Airport Who Rudely Sped Off To The highway And Polluted My Lungs'.
"Yes, I'm fine, just soaking in mud, that's all" You let out a small chuckle, you then took off your helmet, exposing your face to the girl. You saw how badly soaked she was in the mud, you took off your downcoat leaving you with your black shirt.
   "Take off your jacket"
  "Wh-what?"
"take off your jacket, you're gonna get sick!" Stuttering out a simple 'thank you', Max quickly took off her jacket and threw it clumsily onto her suitcase, so carelessly that it causes her jacket to slip onto the grass
"Shit" She silently cursed as she stretched her arms into your jacket, you ran over to her jacket and picked it up, feeling how moist it was.
"What a shame, you looked really nice in that jacket" you complimented Max, she responded with a crimson red blush.
  "Thanks, um"
  "(Y/N)"
"Thanks (Y/N), I'm Max" She extended her arm out and shook your hand.
"Let me help you get to your dorm" You offered, Max awkwardly scratched the back of her neck then putting it down and held it with the other arm.
"I actually don't know which is my dorm..."
"Oh. so you're new then! Don't worry, I'll help you, let's go to the principal's office, he should be able to help you."
She smiled at you, accepting your offer, you walk towards the main building with Max by your side. Before leaving, Max glanced towards Michael and watched him take your suitcase off of his bike. She then noticed the bike, the bike she was insulting merely an hour ago.
The both of you entered the main building together, the bright lights of the hallways nearly blinded you, you glanced towards Max, seeing her shield her eyes with the back of her palm.
  "So you're Max?"
  She nodded at you.
"Max Caulfield?" She stared at you, amazed by how you know her full name.
  "How did you know that?"
"I'm gonna be the teacher's assistant for the rest of the schoolyear, so I know everyone's names. Yours was the first one on the list , Maxine Caulfield"
  She cringes at her name
"Max, Never Maxine, (Your name in a way that you hate)"
  You cringe at her comeback.
"Godammit" Both of you chuckle at your immature conversation and headed towards the office, before you could twist the handle and enter it Max asks you another question.
  "How old are you?"
"19, I'm turning 20 in November" Max was shocked, 'She is only 2 years older than me and they look like they already have their whole life together' Max thought.
"So you're done with your university?"
"Actually no, I decided to take a year break from *Field You're Interested In* College so I could come back here. Seeing that Blackwell needed more faculty members, I decided to try it out. Ray and I- I mean Principal Wells and I had a pretty good relationship so he pulled a few strings for me to work here" Max looked at you with wide eyes, 'Damn I was right' Max thought. "If you came back to take a break, and you're gonna work here, doesn't that like, goes against your whole purpose for being here?" You chuckle "I guess, but I just cannot go back right now, way too stressful"
The entrance swung open, the door banged against the wall loudly, Michael strides through the entrance with your suitcase in his hand. He looked around his surroundings with disgust.
  "Blackhell." Michael muttered.
   Loudly.
Max looked at him and whispered to you. "Is that your brother?" With a sigh you answered Max's question.
"Yes it is" You weren't ashamed or embarrassed, you were used to it, apologizing to other people for his behavior, but it was just so long ago the last time you did it. You opened the door and entered the office, several chairs lining up next to the Principal's office's door, the dark orange wall surrounding you, Michael squeezed between the both of you and with a quiet '''scuse me" and quickly sat on one of the black plastic chairs and leaned his back against the wall, this sight looked familiar, where he basically spent his whole high school years on that chair.
"The chair didn't even change"
"Because they were waiting for you Michael, Waiting for you return" You sarcastically commented, he kicked your suitcase and glared at you.
"Say that again and I'll make sure it makes a hole" Being threatened by him, you kept quiet as you knocked on the door of the principal's office. Principal Wells stood in front of the window, holding a glass of whiskey in his right hand, his left arm behind his waist.
"Sir?" You spoke out, being the only sound to be heard in the entire room. He turned around to face you, a smile plastered across his face, his face lightened up, from what it usually looks like. He puts down the glass of whiskey and walked towards you, he pulls you in for a bug hug and you can smell the whiskey on him.
He's drunk.
He doesn't just simply give hugs to anyone who comes across, but then you thought about it, you weren't just anyone. Or maybe you were being narcissistic. He pulled away from the hug and used his hand to circle the the glass that held whiskey, before taking a swig.
Yep he's drunk.
"(Y/N)! Here's your folder, your schedule, dorm key, class information and all that should be in here." He said, offering you his hand.
"Um, sir? There's nothing on your...hand" He looked at his hand, with surprise in his eyes, looking apologetic he waved his hands off into the air.
"Sorry! No need to be in a rush, your folder is right here..." He ruffled through multiple brown folders and white pieces of papers on his desk, creating even more chaos that it already was. Finally finding yours, he circled round his desk and handed it to you.
"Check if it's the right one, I can't damn tell" He then looked at Max "And you must be Max! Hold on, I'll look for you folder..." He hurried back behind his desk, ruffling through the chaos again, before taking out another brown folder. He then again circled round and gave Max her folder.
"Now, please leave me alone so I can drink one last bottle before school starts." Max did't really have a good first impression of her principal, but considering that this was the school that had the best photography program and Maths and Science program, with all the outstanding students, she could understand if the principal was even slightly stressed out. Saying your goodbyes, Max and you left the office, both of you turn your head to the right, seeing Michael smoke on the chair and blowing the smoke towards the vent above him. As soon as he spotted you he quickly extinguished the flame against the wall, causing the black mark it already had become bigger. You guess that maybe this wasn't the first time he smoked here.
"Godammit Michael, we are in the fucking Principal's office."
"So? I'm an adult, I can do whatever I want."
"yeah two years ago your punishment would be detention, and now it would be jail dumbass" Michael rolled his eyes and stood up from the chair, causing some of his joints to crack.
"Alright, let's send you girlies home!" He grinned brightly and carried yours and Max's luggage.
"Call me a gentleman, you're welcome" He said before leading the way to the dorms.
