Chapter 1

You know all the fairy tales? And how they all start off with "once upon a time..." And all that other stupid princess and prince stuff, and they tell the story and it always ends in happily ever after? Well it's every teenage girls dream to have her own "happily ever after" with her Prince Charming. But unfortunately in real life, "happily ever afters" don't exist. Or at least, that's what I thought. Before I met Jared. And this is how our story starts.

"Taylor, we're moving." My mom said to me as I sat down at the kitchen table on the very last day of junior high at Forks Junior High School.
"What do you mean we're moving mom? We can't leave. What about dad? What about me?" I said. Even though I kind of knew deep down inside that he wasn't ever coming back for us. He was gone. Forever.
"I mean that we're moving. There's nothing left for us here in Forks. And your dad isn't coming back. I sold the house this morning while you were at school. And I sold it for a good price. We need to be out of the house by the end of the month. You get to have a week with your friends here until we move into our new house." My mom told me. She was never this excited to move. She always hated it. My dad was a cop, so when his two years in a place were over we would get relocated to another place. Mom always hated packing up all of our stuff and leaving, now she's excited about it? What happened while I was at school? Did she magically start to love moving to new places?
"Where are we moving?" I asked. In all honesty. I'm kind of scared to find out.
"We're moving to British Columbia, there's this really nice house I found in a small town. Not much bigger then Forks. But there's more people, and a lot of younger kids your age. You'll love it there I'm positive that you will!" My mom said excitedly. If she gets anymore excited I think I'm going to throw up.
"But mom! What about all my friends here? What about summer holidays? I don't know anyone in British Columbia. What am I supposed to do all summer? Stay inside all day?" I said. Well what a way to ruin my summer holiday.
"The new house has a pool in the back yard. And there's even a park with a basketball court, beach volleyball court and a track field. I know how much you love volleyball. That'll be your chance to meet some new friends. I know you don't want to leave home but honey, we have too. You'll make new friends in no time." Mom tried to reassure me. And even though the pool in the back yard did seem pretty cool, seeming as we've never had a pool before cause its always raining here.
"Fine. But I'm still not happy about this." I said.
"It's not up to you. But go out and have fun with your friends." Mom told me as I got up from the table and went to my bedroom.

I was getting ready for the party tonight at Karens house. Her parents are gone for the weekend and she's home alone. The party's all anyone's been talking about all week. I carefully put my eyeliner on each eye. I was half ready when Savannah texted me.
"Hey Tay! You going to Karen's party tonight?"
"Obviously. Isn't everyone?" I replied back.
"Oh yeah! I'll see ya there!" She texted back.
I put on my cut offs and a tank top, plus my high tops, grabbed my bag and left the house.
Jacob, Braden, Mackenzie and Sarah were outside waiting for me. We were walking to Karen's house.
"Hey Taylor...um, can we talk?" Braden asked me. Grabbing my hand in his.
"Um..sure I guess." I said, going behind everyone with him.
"So, I heard that your moving.." He said
"How did you hear that?" I asked
"Your mom works with mine remember? Yeah. Mom told me when she got home from work a few minutes ago. Before I left the house. So, I um.. I wanted to tell you something." He said nervously.
"And that is?" I asked nervously.
"I've umm..I've liked you for a while now. But I've been way to scared to tell you. Until tonight." He said. Leaning in to kiss me.
"But Braden...I'm leaving next week.." I said.
"That doesn't matter. Taylor, I know we can make this work. Please.. I love you. Please, go out with me?" He said
So I leaned in and kissed him.
"Does that answer your question?" I asked. Thankful that it was dark and he couldn't see me blushing.
"Yeah, that answers my question." He said with a little laugh.
"Hey look. We're here!" I said. Walking into Karen's House towards the sound of the music, and the smell of beer.
