We were viewing an old castle. Very old and musty smelling. I had a bad habit that I would do when I became bored. I counted whatever was nearby. In this case, there were bricks. Many bricks. I was up to fifty-five, when I noticed something. Out of all the perfectly cemented bricks, one was sticking out at an odd angle. I approached it, imagining that when I pulled the brick out, a whole world filled with fairies and unicorns would pop out. ‘Why not?’, I thought to myself. My trip was not going to get any more interesting. I tugged on the brick a bit, hoping it to budge maybe a bit. It wiggled a little, but nothing more. I looked around nervously, to see if any of the solemn museum guards were prowling. I saw none, and continued to tug on the brick…until it popped out, into my hands. My heart sped up momentarily as I came to realization into what had just happened. I took one glance inside the dark, dank whole the brick had made, as saw something that surprised me, almost so much that I dropped the brick. It was a note. I peeked in closer, and pulled it out, and hurriedly stuffed it in my pocket, hoping no one had noticed. I shoved the brick back into the wall, and noticed that it sank back in, showing no sign of disturbance and uniformly the same as all the bricks surrounding it. “Erica! Let’s go!”, my dad called from one of the other rooms. I continued to stare at the wall, until I felt my dad’s hand on my shoulder. “No magic bricks right?”, he grinned “Come on. Let’s get out of here.” I would sneak a peak at my note as soon as I got in the car.
