Several days after Sarah and Ian had gotten into their big fight and then had their long talk, Sarah was walking down the street. She was looking for some place to eat but nothing seemed appetizing to her.
She did a double take as she saw a shiny black jeep sitting in the parking lot of a big building. Curiously, Sarah walked across the street and then went inside.
She looked around the front room that she was in.
“Can I help you?” a nasally voice asked. Sarah turned to the lady at the front desk and saw a busty red head with too much makeup caked onto her face.
“Umm, is Ian here?” Sarah asked her.
“Ian Drake?” the lady asked whilst raising her eyebrows. Sarah nodded. “Now what does a little girl like you want with someone like him?” Sarah sighed. She was getting annoyed by this lady treating her like a two year old.
“I want to know if he’s here. I thought I made that obvious when I just asked you a couple seconds ago.” The lady frowned. Sarah looked up as a door opened behind her and she turned around to see Ian walking in. He was sweaty and taking long gulps out of a water bottle. When he saw Sarah he looked surprised.
“Hey kiddo,” he said. “What are you doing here?” Sarah ignored the red head’s open mouth as she listened to Ian and hers conversation.
“I saw your car in the parking lot,” she said. “I was curious.” Ian laughed.
“Of course you were,” he said. “Come on. I just got off for my lunch break. Let me take you out to eat.”
“Ok,” said Sarah happily as she smirked at the lady at the front desk. She popped her gum in annoyance. Ian wrapped his arm around Sarah’s shoulders as he led her out to his car.
“So,” said Ian as they sat down in a restaurant. “What have you been up to today?”
“Not much,” said Sarah. “I was bored.” Ian smiled.
“Is that why you’re here with me?” Sarah smiled and nodded.
“Well,” said Ian. “You can stop by the gym any time. I don’t mind. I love having an audience.” Sarah laughed.
“I bet you do,” she said. “You’re so cocky.” Ian laughed and stood up.
“I’m gonna go to the bathroom. I’ll be back in a minute.” Sarah nodded and watched as he left. She started playing around with her straw when she saw two girls come up to her table. Sarah recognized them as some of her classmates.
“So it’s true then?” one of them asked. “You and Ian are together?” Sarah shook her head.
“Ew,” she said. “Gross. He’s like my brother. Why?”
“Do you know who that is?”
“Of course I do. I’m living with him. I think I know who he is.” The two girls shook their heads.
“You shouldn’t be around him. He’s trouble.” Sarah stared at them.
“You know nothing about him,” she said. “How can you judge him without even knowing who he is? And besides, he isn’t dangerous.” The two girls looked at each other. Sarah smiled as Ian walked over.
“Hey,” he said. “Who are you?”
“This is Ashley and McKenna,” Sarah told him. “They go to my school.” Sarah gave him a look and Ian immediately knew that she didn’t like them. He looked down at the two girls. They frowned and quickly walked away.
“What was that all about?” Ian asked as he took a seat.
“Two people being ignorant,” Sarah muttered. Ian sighed.
