Lyker's POV'Hey, Lyker. I want you to meet some one.' Nolan's voice rang through my head. 'I'll be right there.' I cut the mind link and got up from my desk. I neatly stacked the papers, knowing they wouldn't get done today, and left my office. "Alpha." Some of my pack members bowed their heads. I nodded at them. Some of the pack girls came up to me and flirted, and said things about me needing a Luna. I kept silent and continued following Nolan's sent to the kitchen. Another sent was mixing with his, making it hard to follow it. It smelled like roses and some kind of animal sent.
I walked into the kitchen and looked at Nolan. 'What did you want to show me?' I asked through the link. "Arlise, I want you to meet some one. This is Lyker," That's when I noticed the black dressed figure against the white marble of the kitchen. She turned her head to look at me. Her bright blue eyes met my green ones and I felt the world shift away. My wolf was growling in my mind. "Mate." He repeated.
Her eyes were a bright blue, outlined in black on the outside and a fading black around the pupil. She seemed to snap out of the daze first, cause she asked, "Nolan? I don't like this." She had been picking at the left over chicken from dinner yesterday. She didn't like chicken? She looked up at Nolan. "Can I have some carrots?" My little mate likes vegetables? Without waiting for an answer, she hoped of the counter and went to the fridge. I took this moment to look over her small frame.
Her skin was a pale, lifeless white. She was wearing some black combat boots that folded and had some gold spikes, some black tights, blue ripped shorts, a black tank top and a grey flannel shirt over top. Her black hair was pin straight and went to the small of her back. She had a black bow on her head that seemed to twitch now and then. Her lips were plump and pink, though they were chapped, they still looked kissable. She had a heart shaped face. She had a small, button nose. Her long, black lashes framed those perfect blue orbs. She stood around 4'3 or so.
She opened the fridge, looked through it and grabbed the carrots and some dip and went back to the counter. She climbed up and started to eat. 'Nolan.' I said through our link. He looked at me. 'Yea?' He asked. 'Who is this girl?' I asked. He sighed. 'She used to go to a foster care home, but they kicked her out. I found her at school, being beaten by some of the pack members. I offered for her to stay here.' It hurt, knowing that she was in a foster care home, and that they kicked her out. Then my pack members hurt her! That made me growl with rage. Nolan cussed under his breath and my little mate looked at me quizzically.
'Nolan, can you leave please?' I asked. He nodded and left. My little mate looked confused. "Why'd he leave?" She asked. He voice was soft and melodic, beautiful, like her. "He, uh, had to do some thing." I lied. She nodded her head and hopped off the counter. She walked up to me. "Yes?" I asked her. She fidgeted. "Umm. Is it, er, okay if I, uh, you know, stay here?" She stuttered. I smiled down at her. "Of course." I said. She smiled a bit and I wondered what was going on her head.
"Hey Lyker?" She asked. "Hmm?" I looked down at her again. "Can I go to sleep?" She yawned. I finally noticed that she looked tired. She rubbed her eye and yawned again. I nodded and lead her up to the bed rooms. I stopped at my door and open them for her. "Milady." She giggled. "Thank you, kind sir." She curtsied. She walked in and instantly went to the bed. She flopped down, hugged a pillow to her chest and fell asleep.
Half way through her sleep, she started to tremble. She was shaking and curling her body around her chest. It looked oddly cat like. I walked cautiously towards her. He lips started to move and she was mumbling under her breath. As I got closer, I began to make out what she was saying.
"Please, don't hurt me. Please." Who would want to harm my innocent little mate? "Please, leave me alone. Don't. G-go away." I was beside the bed now. "Lyker!" She screamed and jumped up. I took her in my arms and cradled her to my body.
"Shh. It's okay, it wasn't real. Just a nightmare." I whispered as she shook. She wasn't crying, fighting the tears back, but she shook violently. I went to tuck some of her hair behind her ear, but I couldn't find it. "Angel? Where's your ear?" She stiffened.
"Uh." She was at a loss. "The truth." I told her. She sighed. She crawled off my lap and sat in front of me. "It's a secret and you can't tell anyone. Okay?" She said. I nodded. Her hands came to the back of her neck and fiddled with some thing. Black ribbon fell across her shoulders. She took of the ribbon that was in a bow on top of her head.
Two black cat ears sat there.
