A heavy feeling settled over me, as if my new responsibility was literally weighing me down. I was to be the one to save the world, the one who was responsible for everything? My life was simple, easy, normal. My eyes stung, and suddenly I really wanted to go home.
"Brielle," said Yugo. "Your Wakfu is stronger than any other mortal I've met. You're the Blessed, and you'll do great, I know it." I nodded and quickly wiped away at the tears streaming down my cheeks. Yugo's words were reassuring, but I still felt overburdened.
"Sooo..." Percedal said, fiddling with his sword. "What's up with all the evil green monsters everywhere? And when do we get to fight some more?"
Adamai got a thoughtful look on his face. "Green... Blessed..." He jumped up. "Of course! I forgot some of the story. There's another kind of Wakfu, as old as its relative: Corrupt Wakfu. It's like Wakfu but the complete opposite. It's green, and can take turn Pure Wakfu into itself. The EliaLocket had so much pure Wakfu that when it was created, another locket was inadvertently formed to balance the both Wakfus- the Zalialocket. The bearer of the Zalialocket is the Cursed, who possesses all the power of Corrupt Wakfu like the Blessed wields all powers of Pure Wakfu."
Everyone was silent until Yugo spoke up. "If Corrupt Wakfu has returned to this world, then that means... The Cursed is here too."
This Cursed guy sounded much more powerful than me, but I wasn't going to show I was scared again. These people needed me to help them with their new problem, and I wouldn't let them down. "How am I going to fight him?" I asked. "Adamai and I will teach you!" Yugo beamed. I still felt uneasy, and it must have shown on my face.
Evangelyne rested her hand on my shoulder in a comforting way. "Brielle, I know we're putting a lot of stress on you right now," she said gently. "But I know you can handle the Cursed. You seem like a strong kid." I stared at her and everyone else, dumbfounded. "You guys are so kind to me. Why? I appeared out of nowhere and all of you are suddenly willing to accept me?"
"Because you have AWESOME powers!!" Dally shouted. "And," Amalia interrupted, rolling her eyes, "and we're your new friends here. You seem to have left everyone you knew behind on your planet. We're willing to be your friends, if you let us." I looked at my feet. "Well, I didn't leave many people behind. I didn't have friends back home." Ruel grinned toothily. "Ya got us, kid!" I smiled brightly at everyone. This was the coolest thing that ever happened to me. Without a doubt.
"So," Percedal said, "Where are we going this time?" Yugo scratched his head "I actually have no idea. We can't technically go anywhere without a destination."
A bright yellow tofu burst through the window, chirping happily. "Az!" Everyone said. "Hi Az!" I giggled as he landed gently in my hands. Az jumped suddenly as a blue feather sprouted from his tail feathers. "A message feather!" Amalia said excitedly. "Who's it from? What's it say??" I plucked out the sapphire blue feather and it spun around in the air writing ancient letters. The letters flew toward me and I heard them in my mind, saying:
Follow the path of green destruction and death until you reach your destination.
There, evil was good and had a love fated for devastation.
I blinked to process the information, feeling a little upset and confused. Why was evil good? Loved fated for devastation. It took me a moment to realize everyone was staring at me, waiting to hear what I was told. I relayed the information to them and they looked equally confused. "It sounds like a prophecy, or directions..." Ruel muttered. "I guess we need to follow the destruction of the Corrupt Wakfu," I said. "I think we go where all the Wakfu has been drained by the Corrupt creatures." "That leaves the last lines– 'where evil was good' and 'love fated for devastation'." Evangelyne noted. "Maybe we'll find out," I told her. "I don't quite know yet."
Yugo looked around the group and smiled. "Well, I think that this means another adventure for the Brotherhood of the Tofu!"
