“Run forward,Amber,” Mum said, giving me a little push.

“Into a wall!” I exclaimed.

“Yes, into a wall. It won’t hurt,” she said. “Sage’s done it two times. He’ll tell you.”

“It hurt a lot,” Sage said.

“Sage!”

“Come on, Amber,” Jessica huffed. “Darren’s gone already!”

“I don’t - ah!”

I was shoved forward. I gave another yelp and then waited to collide with a wall when a hand grabbed my collar, making me cough.

“Who, whoa, whoa.” Darren’s voice reached my ears. “Careful, there. Don’t want to bust your head open.”

“Thanks Dar - OUCH!” I cried as something rammed into my back, making me slam into my cart. Sora hooted.

“Sorry!” Jessica said quickly. “Why didn’t you move her, Darren?”

“Sorry,“ he said. “But, it's your fault, too! How was I supposed to know you were coming in at that second?”

“You knew someone would be coming through!” she snapped angrily.

Darren was quiet.

One of our owls hooted.I quickly pulled my cart to the side and waited for the rest of the family to come through.

“I’ve got to get to Fred, George, and Lee,” Sage said. “Bye, Mum! Bye, Dad! See you on Christmas, maybe.”

“Goodbye, Sage!” Mum and Dad called.

“Goodbye, Mum. Goodbye, Dad,” Jessica and Darren said. “We’ll help Amber, don’t worry.”

“You’d better help my baby,” Mum said. I felt my face get hot. Typical of Mum to embarrass me on my first day.

“Goodbye, Mum,” I said. “Goodbye,Dad.”

“See you later, hun,” Dad said, hugging me. Then Mum did. Then Jessica took my hand.

“Come on, Amber,” she said. “We’ll be getting onto the train now.”

I walked forward with my cart handle grasped in my other hand until Jessica stopped me.

“There are some steps,” Darren said. Then I felt myself being lifted up. I kicked until I was placed back on the ground. I really don't like being picked up.

“Jeez, Amber,” Darren said. “I just picked you up. Nothing to worry about.”

“Right, because I love being picked up,” I said while pulling my things onto the train.

“Hurry!” Jessica said urgently when the whistle blew.

“Where do I go?” I asked.

“I don’t - gah!”

The train lurched forward.I fell onto my knees and stayed on the ground until I was pulled up.

“Let’s get you a compartment,” Darren said. He put his hand on my shoulder and started steering me through the train.

“There aren’t any empty compartments!” Jessica complained after a bit.

“Well, Hailey and Jack are in their own compartment,” Darren said.

“Yeah, but I’d think that Amber would like to sit with people her own age,” Jessica said.

“How about Ron and the boy he’s sitting with?” Darren asked.
