“I can’t let you do this to yourself, Sandy. You’re still so young and you have a great future ahead of you. I’m not going to let you throw everything away just because of me.” His blue eyes burned into my green ones as I held onto his hands tightly. The sun was still down and we were standing in our front porch talking in hushed voices, scared to wake anyone up.

“I want to stay with you, Louis. You were the one who taught me to make my own choices and not my parents. Now, this is my choice- I want to stay with you.“ He wiped a stray tear from my cheek and wrapped his arms around me. Tears started streaming down rapidly on my cheeks as I rested my head on his shoulder.

“I’m sorry Sandy but I don’t think I’d be the best choice for you.” He whispered.

Those last words rang in Sandy's head repeatedly and she couldn’t get it out of her mind. He didn’t at least try to keep us together.

He gave up.

And so did she.

All Sandy ever wanted was for Louis to fight for her.
