Julian's POV

The next four nights are spent lonely and quiet, gentle rain cascading through the sky in tender rivulets.

Harry is hardly ever home, but if anyone asks....I couldn't care less.

He hasn't spoken to me since the party all those days ago, and I'm actually greatful for the silence.
I finish getting ready for work, praying that I can make it through today without falling apart.

Work and school have got me so stressed, not to mention all the bills we can barely keep up on.

I push down thoughts of losing everything and mask my worry behind mascara and a shirt as blue as my woes.

I get to work with seconds to spare and clock in. I take my seat behind the book shop register and help an elderly woman bag her findings.

Harry's POV

"If I have a party tonight, you gotta promise me something" I say to Dom whose viciously playing video games in my room.

"What?" He asks without looking up from the TV screen.

"That you'll stay away from Julian" I close my book and set it on the nightstand.

"And why would I promise that? We're in the middle of a game, remember?" Dom continues playing.

"Yeah, but after that firweork stunt you pulled I'll need some time to level the playing field."

"The point of the game is to win, not to make things easier for the other player. Besides, you've won the last two rounds so it's only fair that I take this one" he never once stops clicking on the controller. I rub my temple, my patience is growing thin.

"Just for tonight" I say to him. I don't know why I need this so bad...to have him stay away from her...

I tell myself it's so I can win the game.

"Fine, douchbag. Just don't do anything stupid" he smiles at me.

"No promises" I say and return to my book.

Julian's POV

I get home from work and shower before heading downstairs to make myself dinner.

When I see the empty fridge, it makes me realize I've left all the groceries in the car. I slip on my sandals and go outside, trying to avoid the gentle sprinkle of rain.

"Julian!" Someone yells. I turn to see Dom jogging to me from Harry's house. I immediately feel insecure in my baggy pajama bottoms and oversized sweatshirt.

"Coming to the party tonight?" He asks with another killer smile. I shake my head.

"Parties aren't really my thing" I say, crossing my arms over my chest.

"They could be" he shrugs, and the way his heat is tilted and his eyes are shining makes my stomach flutter.

"I'm already dressed for bed" I say. He looks at my attire and nods.

"Well the party doesn't start till eight, so I hope you'll think about it." He sheepishly grins and it reminds me of a small child on christmas.

"I'll think about it" I say and wave as he walks down the driveway.

Once I'm safely back inside, I make myself a simple steak dinner and sit on the sofa to watch tv. There's no way I'm going to that party...right? I look at the clock.

It's seven thirty. Is it too late to get ready and go? I tell myself it is and continue eating.

I put my plate in the sink with the state of mind that sleep is what's best for me. But then I see Harry standing outside his house with a smile on his face while he greets people.
