Harry's POV

I can't stand being by her for another moment. The way she silently broods and scowls in the passenger seat makes me anxious. She wants to go home, and I'm happy to give her a ride, and though I don't want to be by her, I also don't want to be away.

Funny how that happens.

"I'm sorry" I say quietly. I've never been one to appologize for anything, but here I am...

"Thanks." She replies. I find myself wanting to touch her hand, or tuck her hair from her face, anything to feel her presence.

But I dont.

Suddenly my phone rings shrilly in the quiet air. I answer it, despite the warning glare I get from Julian.

"Hey" I answer, straining to hear Dominic over the loud crowd.

"There's a party at Nicks tonight. Bring her." He demands.

"I don't think so."

"Falling for this one, now, are you? You do remember what happend last time, right?" Dominic hangs my past over my head like an ultimatum.

"Fuck you" I growl into the receiver and hang up. Julian grips my arm just as I swerve into the other lane.

"Harry." She warns. I pull into the parking lot of a 7/11 and turn to face her. She looks as confused as I feel.

"Dominic wants me to take you to a party tonight and I will take you if you want to go, but I personally don't like the thought of you hanging out with people like that." I rant. She leans forward.

"They're your friends" She points out.

"Only when I want them to be."

"You can take me home, then go if you want." She says. I shake my head.

"I don't want to go unless you're there." The words slip out before I can stop them, and now she's looking at me as if I'm the one who put the stars in the sky.

"I'll go if you promise me something." She says.

"What?" I whisper. I don't know why I'm whispering if it's just the two of us.. but it must have something to do with the rain outside and the darkness of night and the fact that a slow song just happens to be playing on the radio in this very moment.

"Promise you won't ignore me, Harry." She whispers back. The way her pink lips form over my name makes me want to banish all other words from the English language, just to hear her say my name again.

"I promise." I reply, not even realizing my eyes are now shut until they open and I see her sitting before me as if she just walked through heaven and into my car. She smiles the most genuine smile I've seen since we met. I put the car in drive and take us to the destination.

Julian's POV

Harry and I had a moment in the car, one that's indescribably the best thing that's happened to me for a long time. I can't help stealing glances at him the whole ride to the party. I've been friends with him for close to six months now, and no matter how many times I look at him, I still get swept up in the character of his appearance.

His eyes shine as green as ever. His dimples are as deep as the ocean, and his curly, disheveled hair frames his face like something out of a magazine. His white teeth are straight without ever have needing braces, and his voice is so velvety I have a hard time focusing when he speaks.
