Our Summer

Chapter 1~

It was a sunny spring day and the arrival of summer was nearby. Seohyun woke up bright and early as she always does. Even after getting ready for school and eating breakfast, she still had some spare time to read some of the novel for her Literature class.

Seohyun set out for school. Her friends met her at the gate of the school.

Taeyeon: "Yah maknae! Why do you always seem to have your nose buried in a book!?"

Seohyun: "Unnie, reading is good for your mind. It helps you gain knowledge and be intelligent."

Sooyoung: "Are you calling me unintelligent since I don't read as much as you?!"

Seohyun: "Aneeyo aneeyo. I'm just saying that unnie can be really smart if she reads."

All of Seohyun's friends laughed and shook their heads. They all headed inside to their homerooms. As Seohyun was waiting for the teacher to arrive, she couldn't help but notice a small scene happening in the corner of the classroom.

A girl had her head shyly facing the floor and her outstretched hands held a delicately wrapped package.

Girl: "Oppa I stayed up really late last night to bake you these cookies. I know you really like sugar cookies because your grandma used to make them for you. Omo I think...I think....saranghae oppa. Please accept my heart."

Seohyun looked over at the boy. It was Jung Yonghwa. Unknowingly, Seohyun's lips turned upwards in disgust. Yonghwa took a bite out of a sugar cookie. He slowly chewed it and swallowed. Then he turned towards the girl.

Yonghwa: "Your cookies will never be as good as my grandma's. Aish there were not even cookies! More like garbage!"

Girl: "Aigoo mianhae oppa! B-but my heart went into making these cookies. Saranghae!! At ottoke?!"

Yonghwa: "Aish pabo. You really think you have a chance with me? I mean your personality is a bit dull. If you get prettier then maybe I'll give you a chance. But right now, I would never go out with a girl as disgraceful as you."

The girl ran out of the room crying.

Seohyun: *thinks* "Aish another girl? Bwa?! What do they see in him?"

Seohyun rolled her eyes and turned away. But as she did that, she felt Yonghwa's eyes staring at her.
