As I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I catch movement behind me. Ethan. He strides in, his green eyes sparkling almost as bright as my gem studded earrings."Guess where we're going!" He exclaimed, unusually content. "It's gonna be fun." I frowned, this wasn't good. My definition of fun was probably not even in his range of to-do lists. I bite my lip.
"We're going out, watching a movie?" I ask hopefully. He lets out a sigh but the excitement never left his eyes.
"We are going to my favourite lake to go fishing!" He grinned wickedly as he saw my horrified expression.
"I don't know how to fish!" I tell him, imagining the fish dragging me into the water. "And I'm scared of big fish." I insist, just shuddering at the thought. He snickers at my nervous expression and pulls me out of the chair with his hand and he gently pulled me into a hug.
"Do you not trust me?" He soothed me, stroking my hair. I exhale into his shirt.
"I don't trust myself." I admit. I would trip over my own feet, over a flat surface because that's the clumsy person I am."Don't worry, kitten." He assured me. "I won't let anything happen to you."
He smirked at me. "It hasn't even been 24 hours but I'm already loving you, kitty cat."
I shoot him a jittery look. "Let's go."
Before I leave I pull a leather jacket off the hooks and slip into it, pulling it tight across my body, taking a deep breath before following Ethan out the door. He first toured me around the hotel-like design of their suites. I treaded along the soft carpet with my sneakers and I was enchanted by the beautiful and expensive oil paintings lining the hall, splashing colours of red, blue and purple across the creamy white walls.
"So here's the beta's room," He lowered his voice. "He's gotten a little snappy lately because of some girl that broke up with him a couple months ago and he hates being a werewolf. He blames us for it."
He knocks on the door firmly and I hear shuffling behind the oak door. When a man opens the door, I feel my heart explode.
"Well if it isn't the Dylan." I grit my teeth, and take a step back, not wanting to be this close to him. I could tell that he was startled by my uninvited appearance. His eyes flickered to Ethan's, unsure of what to respond like.
"Well, umm... You can come in if you like."
I shake my head immediately but Ethan tugs on my hand. "We have to solve this issue if we're all going to co-exist and live by one another." He said in his Alpha voice that I couldn't find the energy to say 'no' to. I shadow behind Ethan's massive body and frown when I see his black hoodie sprawled across a chair along with all his other clothes.
The smell of him triggered the memory once again and I grimace, trying to forget them. Unfortunately for me, this room was filled with things that reminded me of him.
I finally understood now. Why he left me. Why he couldn't tell me and I felt a pang of guilt in my heart. I realized that this wasn't his fault and he was just trying to deal with everything while I wasn't supporting him at all at the time.
In my defence, I didn't know about his little secret and I assumed he wanted to become a rebel and found a gang in the woods that he wanted to become part of. I took his absence as a sign that he forgot about me and didn't want anything to do with me.
"The first couple of days after I shifted, I was shaky with controlling my emotions and most of all, I missed you, Rosella." He says. "They wouldn't let me see you until they were sure I wouldn't say a word about what I was and I think they made a mistake in letting me see you so soon."
