"What did I tell you." He stated with a deadly velvet voice. "I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO ANYWHERE UNLESS I KNOW!"
I shrink into my seat, his knuckles white from gripping the steering wheel so hard. It looked like it was about to break and I played with my hands nervously. He wouldn't even look at me, he was that angry.
"LOOK WHAT HAPPENED." He growled, fixing his hard gaze on the road in front of us. I couldn't look at him, so I pull out the red-stoned knife and toyed with it in my hands. He stopped looking at the road when he sees it and stops the car by the forest where Caleb and Lucian took me before. He grabs it from me and I didn't even have time to respond to his actions. He inspected it carefully, tracing his big fingers over the intricate patterns on the knife. I watch him, confused by his sudden calmness. His hand freezes over the red stone engraved in the handle. He doesn't touch it but he wasn't drawing away. The stone had some effect on him. Just like it had on that old man. By now I had long forgotten about the red truck that I had picked from the store, and no way in hell was I going to go back. Ryder was still drawn to the red stone and I snatched it away from him. He blinks and states outside strangely.
"I know this stone." He says quietly, the sound of the forest drowning out his voice. He looked distant and lost. Whatever he was thinking of was very important because he gave up yelling at me. He had a forlorn look in his eyes as he looks at the knife again. I hide it in my jacket so he would get out of his trance. He blinks again strangely. I run a hand through my dusty hair and sigh.
"What's so special about this stone?" I ask him, as I start walking into the forest. He shakes his head as if he just broke from his trance. "It was my father's."
I try to make sense of things. "You mean he's not here now?"
He shakes his head and kicked a rock with a slight movement of his foot and the rock soars into the distance, faster than anything I've seen. He huffs in frustration. "Don't think for a second that I forgot about your little incident princess. You even got cut on the cheek by him!" I try to walk faster but that doesn't make a difference when I'm walking next to a werewolf. I couldn't escape him no matter how hard I tried. I decided to go for it. He couldn't do anything to me anyways, because I was his mate. I smirk and dash in another direction, knowing that he would come find me eventually like he did in my dream. It was weird and I didn't know if it really happened or not. Maybe it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. I run out of breath after a couple minutes of endless sprinting. My heart had speeded up and I was tired as I sat at the base of a dead tree stump. I didn't hear his footsteps as I was running so I think I've finally outrun him. I was about to cheer when he embraces me from behind, ruffling up my hair.
"Gotcha." He winked and smirked at me. I groan inwardly. I knew he would catch up to me. He was too fast.
"Did you think you could outrun me?" He crossed his arms and grinned at my failed attempt. "In those worn out sneakers and tight Jean jacket, I don't think you would've been able to get three steps."
I sigh in defeat. "Well your were behind me the entire time." I challenged him.
"No, princess. I raced ahead of you and watched you from the distance. You just never noticed me. I smack my hand on my head in embarrassment.
"Of course you were." I say. "I was putting myself up for defeat anyways. A human couldn't outrun a werewolf, I was stupid to try it."
He lifts me up into his arms, bridal style and kisses me on the forehead. "Would like to experience the werewolf speed, excessive access in the arms of a werewolf. This is for VIP members only."
I laugh and snuggle into his chest. He starts jogging, then slowly speeding up faster and faster. The trees were a blur and my eyes opened with wonder. Ryder was watching me with amusement in his eyes. I was watching the world with amusement. The speed we were going at could easily surpass a car and that would made me feel uncomfortable except the fact that I was in Ryder's broad, stable arms. The cool air hits my face and turns it cold but it didn't matter because Ryder would just warm it up again. The journey in his arms took about a minute until we arrived back at camp. He stops, his breath still even and I look at him in wonder.
