I wasn't sure if he noticed or not. But, at that moment, I felt that as kind and wonderful Gray has been to me from the start...there was still some uncrossable chasm between us.

Juvia POV:

~Several days later~

The ringing sound of the phone began to fill up the workroom, I gilded my rolling chair toward the phone and peered down at the number. It was my Senior Secretary,  he was the person who had looked after me up until last year while I was still  in the secretarial division. I furrowed my brows wondering what he could possibly want. I then, picked up the phone.

"Hello, this is Juvia." I stated, trying my best to sound happy.

"Hello, how are you doing?" He bellowed back, with the same husky voice he's always possessed.

"I'm good, thanks for asking."

"Is now a good time, Juvia?" He questioned, I nodded, but then realized he couldn't hear my nod.

"Sure." I told him.

"I have a bit of a favor to ask of Mister Fullbuster, is he in today?" He asked.

"Yes, please wait a moment." I said to the man. I then checked with Gray, and passed the phone to him, he smiled at me and gently grabbed the phone from my hand.

Gray, and the Senior Secretary started to converse diligently on the phone. I wondered what was going on, as they both seemed to be planning out something.

"No, it's fine, we'll figure out something here on our end, goodbye." Gray finally said, before placing the phone back on the receiver. Gray then turned to me, and my interest peaked even higher.

"For tonight's schedule, will you be able to postpone everything for a few days?" Gray asked me. I then nodded, grabbing the planning sheet.

"Of course, there's nothing urgent scheduled for tonight." I responded back, scribbling on the paper. Gray then nodded, and pulled out his phone.

"...I'm going to be on the phone with an acquaintance of mine for a bit." Gray mumbled.

"Oh, okay. Is it something the senior secretary asked you to do?"

"Yes, it is." He vocalized, smiling bitterly. He then straighten his tie, and continued speaking.

"He wants me to rush over to a party at the event company."

"Today?" I questioned.

"Yeah."

"You're going to have to hurry." I told Gray. Gray then walked over to me, and gently caressed my head. I immediately glanced down at my teal colored heels, trying my absolute best to not blush.

"The real problem is that I have to find a date to the party." He stated. Is he going to take me? I pondered. Gray then slowly removed his hand from my hair.

"Luckily I know woman who said she wants to go to this sort of party, so this is a good chance to take care of that. Perhaps I may be mixing work with play, but I don't think will be an issue, so I'll ask her to be my date." Gray calmly told me.

"Okay, that sounds good." I told him.

Is it the woman from that night?
