Niall's POV:

"Are you sure you have everything?" I asked Y/N as I helped her carry her bags down to the front door. She was leaving for a business trip and she was going to be gone for a week. That means that I had to stay home with our kids. This is going to be the first time I've had to watch them without her with me. "Yeah. I think that's everything," she said looking at her bags. She looked at me with a worried expression, "Are you sure you can handle them?" "I got this, babe. How bad can they get?" She laughed and hugged me. "Promise me you'll call if they get out of control," she whispered. "Alright but you're underestimating me. I can handle it." She pulled away and kissed me. "I know. It's just the first time I've been away from them. Should I do this? I mean, I don't have to go." "Just relax. Go do your business thing. Get that promotion. Show them what you got. We'll be okay." "Alright," she sighed. "Kids! Come say bye to mommy!" I yelled upstairs. The sound of pitter patter of little feet filled the hallway. Cady and Conner came running down the stairs. They ran straight for their mom. She bent down and have them a tight hug. "How long are you going to be gone?" Cady asked. "A week. I'll be home before you know it. Be a good girl for Daddy, okay?" "Alright." "Mommy loves you both," she said kissing their foreheads. "I love you too Mommy," Conner mumbled. Y/N said her final goodbyes to the kids while I took her bags to the cab waiting outside. I joined Y/N and the kids on the front porch. "I love you," Y/N said before hugging me again. "I love you too." Y/N walked over and got into the cab. Conner tugged on my pants, wanting me to pick him up. I bent over and picked up my small 5 year old. Cady, Conner, and I stood on the porch and waved to Y/N as the cab pulled away from the house. Cady sighed, "Now what?" I looked down at my 8 year old little girl and laughed, "We do what we usually do." We all walked into the house and stood there. "What do you guys want to do?" I asked. "Trucks!" Conner yelled. "You wanna play with trucks?" I asked my little man. "Yes!" "Come on! We always play with trucks! I wanna play house!" Cady whined. "Alright. Alright," I said putting Conner down,"we can play both. Conner can play with his trucks while we play house." "Okay. Well I'll be Mommy, you be Daddy, and Conner can be the baby." "Sounds good. Go help Conner bring his trucks in here and we'll play." "Okay!" Cady yelled. "Come on, Conner!" She held Conner's hand as they walked up the stairs to his room. I sat down on the couch and turned the game on. I could watch the game while playing with the kids at the same time, no sweat.

Moments later, I heard Cady and Conner drag his bag of trucks down the stairs. I don't know why they were dragging them. They could easily pick them up. Conner walked around in front of me and dumped the whole bag of trucks on my lap. "Thank you, buddy. Thanks a lot for this," I sighed. "You're welcome, Daddy!" "I'll have to teach you about sarcasm, son." Conner ignored me while dragging his cars over my legs. "So are we playing house?" Cady asked with her hands on her hips. "Yes. We are playing house. So you're the mom?" "Yes. And you're the dad. And Conner's the baby." "Alright." "Okay so I'm going to walk in from work." Cady said walking over to the front door. "Okay," I laughed. Conner crawled up beside me on the couch and dragged the cars over my head and shoulder. Cady walked back over to us. "Hello, honey. I'm back from a busy day at work. And what is this mess? Conner, what have I told you about leaving your cars everywhere? I don't clean this house for you to make messes again!" She said with her hands on her hips and tapping her foot. She really was just like her mother. "You're not my mommy, Cady. You're my sissy." Conner said dragging the toy car over my forehead. "But you're suppose to pretend, Conner!" "Oh darling, I do apologize for the mess! Conner and I were just playing and we got carried away." "Well Niall. You could pitch in a little more instead of watching football." I looked at her surprisingly, "Hey! Your mom doesn't say that." "I know, Daddy. It's pretend." "Oh. Alright. I do apologize." I said trying to play my part as the dad. "That's alright," she sighed. She sat on the other side of the couch and watched Conner play with his trucks and cars. "Daddy, I'm bored," Cady sighed. "Already?" I asked peeking over the toy cars that were being drug over my face. "Yeah. I don't wanna play house anymore. Conner, wanna play Adventure?" "Okay," Conner said dropping the cars that were on my shoulder. Cady and Conner ran upstairs to play whatever "Adventure" was. I'm glad those kids have such a big imagination. It would be boring around here otherwise.

I sat on the couch and continued to watch the game when suddenly, I heard a thud. "Guys! What was that?!" I yelled up he stairs. "Ow! Daddy!!" I heard Cady yell. I got up and sprinted to Cady's room. I opened the door to find Cady sitting on the floor holding her ankle. "What happened here?" I asked looking at my mischievous children. "I don't know," Conner said shrugging his shoulders. "He pushed me off the bed!" Cady yelled. "Conner! Did you?!" "She said a dragon was gonna eat me!" He said pointed at his sister. "Wait. What?" I said confused. "We were playing Adventure and we had to get to the castle before the dragon got us. So I told Conner that the dragon was getting closer to us and he pushed me off the bed and said it could eat me instead! And now my ankle hurts!" "So you just sacrificed your own sister to the dragon?" I asked Conner. "I didn't want to die Daddy!" I bent over next to Cady and looked at her ankle. "Lets put some ice on that and keep it elevated." I picked her up and headed into the living room. "Is it broken? Do I have to get it cut off?" My daughter the drama queen. "No it's not broken, darling. And no. You get to keep both of your legs." "Thank the heavens!" I laughed as I gently sat her down on the couch. I went to get an ice pack out of the freezer and came back to fix the pillows so she could keep her ankle elevated. "Can you rotate your foot?" I asked looking at her ankle. "Can I what?" "Move it. Can you move it?" "Oh!" She tried to move it but she winced. "It hurts, Daddy." "Alright. We'll take care of it." "Daddy?" I heard Conner ask, hiding behind the stair railing. I looked up and saw his pouting face. "Is she gonna be okay?" He asked. "Yeah but I think you need to tell her something." He walked over and hugged Cady gently. "I'm sorry, sissy. I didn't mean to push you off the bed. I really didn't. And I'm sorry I threw you to the dragon." "It's okay. I'm going to live." Conner walked over and placed a little kiss on her ankle. "Better?" He asked Cady as he held her hand. "A lot. Thank you." I smiled as I watched how cute my sweet kids were being to each other. If it were me and Greg, we would be beating the crap outta each other. I placed the ice pack on Cady's ankle and adjusted it, "Let it stay there for a little bit then we'll wrap it up, okay?" "Alright," she sighed. "How about we watch a movie?" I asked. "Finding Nemo!" Cady and Conner yelled in unison. I stood up and popped the DVD in and plopped down on the couch with my kids.

Within an hour into the movie, Cady and Conner were sound asleep. Conner was snuggle into Cady's side and Cady had her arm around Conner's shoulder. This was truly a Hallmark moment. My phone began to buzz on the side table. It was Y/N. I hopped up and stepped into the kitchen so I wouldn't wake the kids. "Hey, princess." "Hey, babe. I just got to the hotel. I'm about to change and head to the meeting. How's the kids?" "Oh they're fine. They're asleep on the couch. We were watching Finding Nemo." "Have they fought any?" "Well there was an accident. Something about a dragon and Conner pushed Cady off the bed. She sprained her ankle but she's okay. I wrapped it up." "My gosh. And this is just the first day." "This is going to be an interesting week." "Are they okay now?" "Well Conner apologized and now they're snuggled up on the couch. It's a sweet sight, actually." "Aw. I wish I could be there. I miss you already." "I'll send you a picture. I miss you too, princess. Hurry home. It's not the same without you here." "I'm gonna try, babe. I gotta go and get ready. I'll call you later. I love you." "I love you too, babe." "Bye." "Bye." The line went dead. I went into the living room to help my sleepy kids to bed. I first picked up Conner and carried him to his room. I tucked him into bed and kissed his head. I walked back into the living room and carefully picked Cady up. She mumbled to herself while we went down the hallway. I fixed some pillows at the foot of her bed so she could keep her ankle elevated. I carefully pulled the blankets up to her neck and tucked her hair behind her ears. I kissed her forehead and headed towards her door. "Daddy.." "Yeah, sweetie?" "I like when you stay home with us. It's fun." "I like it too, hun." "Can we go see uncle Harry, Liam, Louis, and Zayn tomorrow?" "I'm not sure. Just go to sleep right now. We'll talk in the morning." "I love you, Daddy. A lot." "And I love you a lot. Goodnight." "Goodnight." I closed her door and stood in the hallway for a bit. I looked at the family photos hanging on the wall. The baby pictures of Cady. The pictures of Conner and Cady together. And mine and Y/N's wedding picture. I have everything I've ever wanted. Beautiful children who brighten my day with just a single word. When they say "Daddy", it just makes me smile. I've always wanted to be a dad and now I have two perfect angels. But I wouldn't have those angels with my angel, Y/N. She's my rock, my world, my everything. I don't know what I would do if she hadn't said yes to me that night. If she hasn't agreed to go on that date with me. I honestly couldn't see my life without her. I'm the luckiest man on this planet.
