Becoming the Bad Boy
Chapter 2My eyes peeled apart, gently fluttering as I got used to the light filtering through the open curtains. I sighed, the events of last night invading my memories. I may fight but I would never use that against my own father, I would never stoop down to that level and hurt some one that I know or love.
"Ezra Dalton!" I switched my gaze up, my forehead creased as I looked into the concerned eyes of Jasper Wattson, my best friend. "Did you hear what I said?" He asked me, amusement and worry floating in his brown eyes.
I quickly shook my head but regretted it once the action caused me to groan in pain and clutch my throbbing temple. "It's Monday. Are you going to school, Ez?" Licking my lips I grunted, "Yes".
"Okay. Grab a quick shower and I'll leave some clothes on the bed. We have twenty minutes till we need to leave!" He screamed before running out of the room. How can this dick be so excited in the morning? I chuckled to myself before dragging my feet into the shower. The hot water eased my tensions and loosened my muscles. Ten minutes later I was dressed and ready to leave, sauntering down the stairs as the smell of bacon possessed me. I grinned as I saw Mrs Wattson at the stove and gently pecked her cheek. This was my momma, my own had passed away when I was thirteen. Seating myself on a stool, I grabbed a few slices of bacon before calling out for Jasper.
I slid into my car, Jas inserting himself in the passengers side and I gasped as the familiar shot of adrenaline overtook my mind. There was no stopping me as my foot crushed onto the acceleration and the car jolted forwards, the open windows allowing air to dance through my hair; this was freedom. I took no notice of Jas yelping beside me as I entered through the school gates and skid my car into a parking space, the students staring in awe at my beautiful Audi R8. I chuckled. This will never get old. I plastered on a smirk and opened the door, walking towards the main entrance, I leaned against the wall, Jas and a couple of his friends joining me. I lit a cigarette and placed it in my mouth, allowing the smoke to comfort my insides. I blew off to the side when I heard gasping and coughing, waiting for the smoke to clear, I saw a girl glaring at me.
"Stop blowing smoke in people's faces! I have asthma! You could have killed me!" She growled out, but I was not concentrating on her words, just at the way she looked when she was angry and the way her red hair blew in the wind. She was beautiful. She pushed me and I stumbled back into the wall, damn girl ruining my bad boy reputation. I smirked and stood still listening to her rant on. I guess I felt bad, I didn't know she would be there so it's not my fault.
"Sorry." I whispered so only she could hear, and I think she was in shock by the way she stopped ranting and stared at me with wide eyes. But I didn't stay to hear her reply as I turned on my heel and made my way to first period just as the bell rang.
Of course I don't really pay attention in classes. I have better things to occupy my mind. When I was thirteen, my mother died, everyone dies and I know that, after four years I shouldn't be mourning like it was just yesterday. But it's the way she died that affected me, the way I found her body. In the garden, she was in her home clothes, I can still feel the cotton of her floral blouse. When I came from school, I saw multiple stab wounds and her body was beaten. I was lost, didn't know what to do until I called my dad and he rushed home. He blamed me. I guess that was his way of forgetting. It's what came after her death that affected me.
And then I was beaten. From thirteen years old till now.
Other things stop me from learning too. I still need to think about my next race or my next fight. I do these things because they distract me from reality. Sure, I need the money so that I can live. My father won't give me anything so I need to scrape up as much as I can to buy a house that would allow me to escape from the monster. I guess enough is enough though. Everyone has a breaking point and I've just reached mine.
Lunch came around quicker than I would have thought and I walked over to the table in the centre where Jasper and I hung out along with a couple of other people. Before joining them, I made a quick detour and stood in the line so I could buy my food. Paying, I quickly sat at the table, with my head down until I noticed a blanket of silence fall upon the cafeteria. I looked up, noticing everyone's gaze on our table and switching to something beside us. I heard someone clear their throat behind me and groaned as I knew it was directed this way.
I raised an eyebrow at the girl, realising she's the one that I met this morning. "Umm.. You know how you almost killed me?" She asked, her voice trembling and I found it cute how she kept biting her lip. I gave her a quick nod and she carried on. "Well.. I need help in tutoring for learning Italian. And the teachers here are crap so I don't learn anything. So I was just wondering, you know, if you can help me. Seeing as you can speak Italian and that.." She trailed off, looking everywhere but at me. I chuckled to my self and I bet everyone's eyes had widened because they may never have heard me laugh before.
"Sicuro Principessa [Sure, Princess]." I said and grinned at the confused girl in front of me. She was confused? I have a lot to teach her. She turned, baffled, and disappeared from site.
