Connie has always seemed to fall for this boy, Oscar Griffin, since elementary, but he never seems to notice her. However, many girls has had the same interest. Connie was always the girl who would go unnoticed by him, even though the school was small. Oscar cannot be single without coming into the last years of elementary, so he goes for a sweet, popular girl, called Laura Daymon. Connie's emotions get to a stage, where she feels self-conscious and self-aware of the girl she should be, that means getting rid of all emotions for Oscar Griffin. As they depart from elementary to high school, Connie finds out that she will be attending the same school. She hopes that maybe this could be a new fresh start- without having any feelings for this boy.
As Connie enters seventh year (grade), she discovers that life is so much better without the obsession of the boy she thought she once loved. It gets easier for her, as they are separated into two half's, in which she cannot get into as much contact to him as in elementary school. She has also been able to form growing relationships with two of her best friends, Ethan Walker and Blake Galloway.
For three years, Connie was able to sustain no contact or any mutual feelings for him as she did before. Her feelings not only disappeared like it was never there, BUT she despises him ever-so-more. However, when they get their new class schedule for the year, she ends up finding herself in the same classes as him. Great. This is just awkward. How bad can it get?
