Chapter One

Katniss P.O.V

"Wake up you worthless piece of shit!"My aunt yells at me

I want to live with my father, mother, and sister. But I cant. My aunt has legal custody of me and she hates me, my mother, and my sister. She's doing this to show my mom the consequences of marring her brother is what I heard.

I rub my tired eyes. My aunt hits me if I don't obey her. I grab a pair of black leggings, a sunset orange skirt, a white crop top, and a denim jacket. I put on a light pink eye shadow and lip gloss. I slip on some pink ballet flats and curl my hair. I walk down the stairs. Most girls have their father say something like "You look beautiful today princess."

Or a mother that says "You look so lovely darling." But nope this is what I hear

"Wow my niece dresses like a slut. Go on go to school and if you get called a slut, I wont do nothing about it! Cause you look like one!"

Yep. My everyday life.

I walk out of the house with silent tears running down my face. My cousin Gale walks beside me with a girl with short jet black hair with a red streak, a black shirt and a ripped denim jacket, ripped jeans, and combat boots.

"What's wrong Catnip?" he asks me.

When I was born he couldn't say Katniss so he said Catnip.

I don't reply until the girl says "Hey brainless, what's wrong?"

"My aunt." I say quietly

Gale knows what I'm talking about but the girl doesn't

"I'm Johanna Mason." the girl says

"But call me Jo for short." Johanna says

"I'm Katniss Everdeen." I say

"What's the relation between you two?" Jo asks

"Cousins." Gale says

Jo nods her head.

"You look nice brainless." Jo says

"My aunt thinks I look like a slut." I say

"No you don't!" Gale yells

"You look bad ass." I say to Jo

She smirks

"Thank you." she says

We arrive at school and Gale wants me to join his group of friends.

"Catnip this is Clove Daniels, Annie Cresta, Glimmer Rain, you already know Johanna Mason, Cato Swords, Finnick Odair, Marvel Spears, and Peeta Mellark." Gale says

"Guys this is my cousin Katniss Everdeen." Gale says

I have classes with Gale and all of his friends. We all sit near each other, but we don't fool around. Me and Gale get abused badly. We live in different households but we know what happens to the other.

All his friends are being really nice to me. In most schools the new kid gets picked on but I don't. I learned that there known as the victors. I just hope this school year is different.

So in all my Everlark fanfics Gale will be Katniss's cousin. Because I do ship Everlark, but stop makin Gale seem like the bad guy. Anyway don't forget to
