"Up! UUUUUUUP!" The shrill voice of my mother jerked me awake. "IT'S TIME TO GET UP." I roll to my side and see my fraternal twin, Ginny, asleep in her bed identical to mine across the room. Her bright red hair is so vibrant against the white sheets.
Part of me regrets dyeing my auburn hair to an almost-black brown, but exactly two years ago when I was sorted into a different house as the rest of my family I decided the ginger hair didn't suit me anymore.
I've never really belonged with my family. Sometimes I wonder if i'm truly a Weasley.
"TODAY'S A BIG DAY!" Mom shouts again and I watch Ginny cover her head with her pillow.
I hear pops and explosions below our room, meaning Fred and George, the second Weasley twin set, are celebrating the fact that it's Percy's last year at Hogwarts. I'm just glad they prefer my company rather then Percy's still, even though i'm so different, Percy is a pain in the tail and a prick.
This year is going to be my third year.... in Hell. Well, not quite. I groan and hop out of bed. My heart leaps as I think of the train ride to Hogwarts. Last year was a good year for me, because I grew close to Draco Malfoy, and even developed feelings for him. Oh gosh... I guess that's just one of the perks to being a thirteen year old.
I throw on a black graphic tee that says "Sunday Funday" (It's not even Sunday...) and put on a grey checkered flannel. After getting on my black skinny jeans I slip on my black high tops and wear my hair down. I have bangs that swoop to the left above my eyebrows, and I have a stud on each ear, a double piercing on my right, and I have a loop ring on the left side of my nose.
Okay everyone asks me if it hurts when I sneeze and the answer is NO.
I got a howler last year delivered by Percy's owl when mom found out my friend Sicily Avette double pierced my right ear and pierced my nose. Ron told her, of course. He just hates me because i'm close with Malfoy.
"Ainsley! Ginny!" Mom yells pounding through the door.
"We're up! jeez." I mumble, going over to shake Ginny awake. She blinks up at me and smiles.
"Do you think Harry will sit with me on the train?" She springs out of bed, already in her clothes and I roll my eyes.
"Yeah I guess so." I roll my eyes, double-checking if I have everything in my suitcase.
"Why are you such a grouch?" She frowns slightly and tilts her head at me.
"I'm not!"
"Maybe if you weren't so grouchy, you wouldn't have ended up in Slytherin."
"Slytherin's aren't known for their grouchiness! And I like it there."
"Ginny, have you seen scabbers?" Ron peeks his head through our door. Ginny shakes her head and Ron takes a quick glance at me before vanishing. I snort and stand up with my suitcase. Ron and Percy are the only Weasleys with a school pet. I desperately want a cat but that will never happen.
I wait for Ginny to get ready and I follow her out of the room. I think of how different we are... the hair, obviously. I have dark blue eyes, and hers are light. My cheekbones are higher up, so my face is more narrow than Ginny's round one. Also our sense of style....
When we walk into the kitchen it is chaos. The dishes were misbehaving and flying about. Percy ducked his head and gave a squeal as a teacup flew over his head. Ron was swatting at some plates hovering around as he ate his eggs.
Fred looped his arm around me and George did the same to Ginny.
"Is this your doing?" I raise my eyebrow and glance up at Fred. He towered over me with height and he winked.
"FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED. GEOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGE!" The four of us whip around and mom is standing with her arms crossed in the doorway with our oldest brothers Bill and Charlie. Bill is two years older than Charlie, who is three years older than Percy, who is two years older than Fred and George, who are two years older than Ron, who is a year older than Ginny and me. Whew.
"What. Is. Going. On." She snapped walking towards us. Fred grabbed my shoulders and crouched behind me, rotating me when mom got near.
"Cut it out!" I laughed, and I ran forward hugging Charlie and Bill.
"I had no idea you were coming home!" I beam up at them and they both grin back. "How are the dragons?" I asked Charlie. "How's Egypt?" I turned to Bill. He chuckled.
"One question at a-" He was cut off by Ron butting in.
"Blimey! No one ever said you were coming home!" Ron embraced them both at once and Percy did the same, though he was all rigid.
"Ginny our lil' baby sister!" Charlie walked over and kissed her forehead, and Ginny threw her arms around his neck. I sighed inwardly. Don't quite show the same affection. DON'T GO OUT OF YOUR WAY OR ANYTHING.
Bill followed and twirled her around.
"Ready for your third year?" He asked. Looking at me too this time. I nodded and Ginny screeched.
"Yes!"
"Alright! Alright! Everyone! Oh dear, where is your father. ARTHUR! ARRRTHUR!! It's time to get going!" My female parental unit starting shooing us all to get our luggage and get out the door.
"Coming!" Father crashes down the stairs holding two identical broomsticks. "You forgot these." He glares at Fred and George who whoop and rush out the door grabbing their brooms. Everyone followed close behind.
**************
"Here we are again! Platform nine and three-quarters!" Father shouted happily as we all stood in front of a brick wall. All of us exchanged goodbyes, and Percy went first. Followed by Fred and George, then Ginny.
"You've changed on us kiddo." I feel a hand rest on the top of my head right before I follow my twin. I look up and see Bill. I glance down at the ground and exhale. I can feel my eyes stinging and my throat start to close up. Why am I acting like this? I need to just go. I start to head for the wall, but Bill pulls me back by my shirt, and into an embrace. He started to say something but I cut him off.
"I've always been different, you know that." I say quietly. I pull back and run through the wall before anyone else talked to me. Right before I went through I had enough time to look back and see Bill's pained face.
The platform was bustling and kids were rushing to find good seats with their friends. My siblings already boarded. I wiped the corner of my eye which I had no idea was watering.
Maybe it's because I've always looked up to Bill.... I just want him to be proud of me, and to love me.
"Ainsley! Hey Ainsley! You okay?"
I look up, recognizing that voice. I grin and nod my head as he walks over to me.
"Hey Draco."
