I glanced at the bottom of my computer screen. In the corner of the softly glowing screen the time read two forty six pm. Yawning, I sreched my arms out over my head. Ricky glanced over and smirked, but ended up yawning too.
Their serisouly quite contagious.
Ricky's soft blue eyes were light up by his own computer screen, he smiled lazily and kept typing. I also resumed with typing. As fun as writting essays were, they really weren't actually all that bad. I mean, I didn't actually mind writting them. It's just jotting words into a sentence that combines with others to form a paragraphs about things you know about that topic.
Just like writting, just about every else.
Microsoft word's pages were filling up and filled up. My fingers taped the final keys as the last and finishing words flooded onto the screen's paper.
I smiled and stood up stretching my legs. Ricky looked up again and shook his head, blonde hair tumbling about his face. Looking closer I could see faded and soft freckles crossing over his nose and cheeks.
Adorable.
Looking at my bag and books I had sprawled across the table, I remeber that I need a few more books to research about. My shoulders slump with the rest of my body.
Turning to head towards the sections of bookshelves, I cock my head backwards.
" Gonna go look for books," I slur inan unattractive way. I mean the position I had my head in in the first place wasn't attractive to start with.
Ricky nodded and furrouwed his eyebrows before returning to the ever demanding attention that the essay called for.
Shelves of loaded with millions upon millions of pages from books loomed over me. I felt like a child staring up at a skyscraper, wondering if they went on forever. And looking up at the ginormous shelves I wondered if they did.
I walked into the religions part of the literature. There was quite a lot. I grabbed a few random books off of three random shelves and sat down, leaning against the book case for support as I opened each hardcover bound book. The smell of new and old blossomed to meet my nose.
I sneezed and continued reading a bit of each to find what which one would be the lucky winner who got to ride in my backpack all the way home and be pilled onto my desk for some good ol' learning.
I good practically hear them there sarcastic pleas to be able to come with me, instead of sitting on there neat and comfortably tight packed shelves. And this is what happens when my mind wonders, the objects I hold start speaking within my mind.
Sighing I closed each book and stumbled under the weight as I tried to place them back into their proper placing.
I perched on my tip-toes as I attempted putting the final book away. I jumped with the book in my hand trying to put it back. On my third jump upwards through the books shelf over the books on the row bellow where I was trying to place the text book a pair of startling gray eyes watched me puzzled.
Jumping again trying to search for the eyes again, the book finally slid into it's proper place, on the way down no gray eyes held mine this time.
Oh gee golly, did I ever know who's gray eyes those belonged too.
Scanning through the long shelf again, my eyes grazed for him. He stood at the end of the book case surrounded by other shleves, his posture resembled a scare-crow foldinginto it's self.
Slumped over and embarrased.
I marched over to the end and peeked around the corner, only my head showing. Once again Gray eyes caught mine and a distanlged expression bloomed on his face. He looked beaten and worn.
Good the boy should.
Ache of his sadness and dissapoitnmentm erupted in my stomach. My face fell from a grimace into a frown.
" Um hi," I spoke awkwardly still peeping around the book case.
His eyes dug into my with question and apologies.
" Hi," Was all he said.
I walked over and stood next to him, crossing my arms over my chest and cocking my eyebrow. I decided I was going to do something I never have before. Speak what I assume and bargain.
At the same time.
" I'll accept a apologie if you tell me everything about you and what's her face last night." I stated fiercly.
Rogan frowned, then contorted his face into furrowing and odd mouth quirks. His shoulders shrugged and he nodded, a dissapointed smile crossing his lips.
" Cora, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be like that."
I nodded, a little heart ache slipped in then. I pushed that down to the depth of my soul. It's not like I liked him like that, maybe, but it was no way to treat a girl. Especialy me, cause well it's me and i thought he was my friend.
I remembered how self-conscience I used to be. Always obesseing over every little thing people would say. Sometimes trying to hard with the words I would speak, just wanting to please everyone and please myself at the same time. I'd gotten over that the year I started highschool. It started with me becoming numb then finding a happy place away from the numbness while still living with it.
Odd ways I know, so sometimes I thought I deserved better then everyone else. Why? Cause I just did. But did everyone?
" Hello? Cora?" Rogan asked tapping my fore head with his finger. Shaking my head I looked back up at him. What a hipster. I smiled lightly and hugged him. Out of nowhere.
Rogan stould there shell shocked for a few minutes before finally breathing again, I could feel him taking in air as my head rested in his chest. His arms wrapped around me comfortably.
In a friend manor. He understood that he was forgiven.
I yawned again as I pulled away, he yawned too.
" So when are you gonna tell me everything ?" I questioned starting to walk away towards the religions part of the book cases again. Rogan shrugged and thought, well it looked like he was anyway.
" How about next friday? You come over to my place and well just hangout I guess," He smiled awkwardly and cutely." Over some sushi."
I smiled and nodded. " Okay i'll catch yah then." And I headed back.
Finally after more searching through loads upon loads of more books about religion I found what I needed. A book about budism. Quite interesting, I'd even taken it up once upon a time.
Returning to Ricky I saw he was packing up his laptop and gear and stretching. He smiled tiredly. The clock on my computer screen read almmost four o'clock now. My eyes bugged out. Wow i'd taken my time.
" Find what you need cupcake?" Ricky smirked.
I rolled my eyes and nodded," Yeah, you heading out?"
Ricky nodded," Yeah, I'll catch yah later, I wrote my number on a piece of paper, it's attached to the back of you're laptop. Text me." And he walked off effortlessly looking good.
Sneaky boy. Always the blondes who do that. Peeling off the sticky note attached to the back of my screen, I entered the number into my phone. I don't even know if I wuold actually ever text him, maybe after today though I would.
I packed up my stuff and headed to my dorm room too, remembering it was empty.
When I opened the door I put everything back in place to wear it had been in perfect order. I swear sometimes I had OCD. The moment my body hit my bed though, I couldn't get enough. The magical and mystical powers of my bed called to me, comforting and inviting me for a little rest.
Just five minutes I told myself, yawning.
Fives minutes my butt.
