Louis woke up slightly disoriented. His eyes were blurry from having just opened them. He yawned, closing his eyes again as he stretched, letting out a small gasp a moment when he fell out of bed. He sat for a moment, not quite precessing what had just happened, then he let out a chuckle. He hadn't even realized he was on the very edge of his bed.

"Louis?" His mother called from the end of the stairs, having heard the small thump that sounded when Louis hit the ground. "What happened? You alright, honey?"

"Yeah, I'm fine!" Louis called back. He stooped up and brushed himself off, chuckling again and shaking his head. "Just fell out of bed!"

Louis's chuckles fell to a fond smile when he heard his mother chuckle downstairs. Louis shoved his blankets back onto his bed before he shuffled downstairs, dressed in only his pajamas- which were just a pair of black boxers.

"Breakfast?" Johannah asked, glancing up at Louis. She held a spatula in her hand, stirring some scramble eggs in a pan. She had a plate of toast out and some scrambled eggs in a bowl. Louis knew most of the food was for his sisters, but he took her up on the offer anyways.

"Yeah." Louis settled for a piece of plain toast. It wasn't much, but Louis hardly ever ate breakfat anyways- usually didn't have time after he got out of the shower. "Thanks."

"So," She said after nodding in responce to Louis' thanks. She scooped the scrambled eggs out of the pot and into the little bowl of them next to Louis' arm. Johannah had been thinking about something her son said to her yesterday practically all night. "you said you might have exciting news for me today?"

"Yes." Louis smiled, happy to actually have that good news for his mother. He hadn't exactly been counting on having good news or being happy today, as he had thought Eleanor would reject him. "I had a date yesterday."

"That's great, baby!" Johannah smiled bright, her smile resembling Louis' current one. She put down the spatula and leaned on the counter, closer to her son as if they were sharing a secret. But she didn't whisper. "Have I met them before?"

"No." Louis said through a mouthful of toast. He chewed and swallowed before he continued. "Her name is Eleanor- a girl at my school. I've actually had a pretty big crush on her for a while now, actually. We're going out again soon."

"Huh, I always thought you had a crush on that boy you always talk about. Niall? Yes, Niall." She frowned for a moment, thinking of that boy Louis had gone on about, then she smiled again. "But that's great honey, I'm sure she's absolutely lovely."

"Niall? No, I don't have a crush on him. He's my best friend." Louis frowned too, for a moment. He chuckled, then, switching back to the topic of Eleanor. "Yeah, she's stunning."

"I'm happy for you, darling. I hope I get to meet her soon." Johannah glanced at the clock on the wall beside her. "Oh, you better go for a shower, quick, or you'll be late."

"Thanks mum!" Louis called, shoving the rest of his toast in his mouth as he went upstairs. He had a feeling today would be a good day. Sure, he and Eleanor weren't exclusive, but that didn't say they wouldn't be.

Niall woke up under his willow tree. He'd cried himself to sleep last night after he saw Louis and Eleanor go out together for a date. Niall wondered why these things happened to him. He'd fallen in love with Garret, who was playing him the whole time. He'd fallen in love with Louis, who had fallen for someone else. Niall didn't trust love anymore, it always seemed to let him down.

Niall hauled himself up to limp over to his tree, climbing up and crashing through his window. He pulled himself into the bathroom and took off his clothes until he was standing only in his boxers, right in front of his full length mirror. Suddenly he saw why Louis didn't love him.
