Louis tapped his fingers together, leaning against Eleanor's locker. He was waiting for his girlfriend to show up, hoping she actually did and hadn't decided to take the day off. He caught a glimpse of Niall out of the corner of his eye, who was smiling as he listened to the others talk about everything he missed. He looked so happy, and it made Louis' heart flutter in his chest.

"Hey Lou." Eleanor said, snapping Louis out of his trance with a slight jolt of his body that went unnoticed by the girl next to him. Louis felt even more nervous than before, but he knew he couldn't back out of this- he couldn't kiss her and pretend everything was okay, especially with Niall only a few feet away, waiting patiently for him to tell Eleanor about them. He wouldn't even be able to protest or shout at Louis for being such a dick. How awful would that be?

While Louis was lost in thought, Eleanor had leaned it to kiss him, hardly noticing that Louis looked so nervous. She leaned back when Louis awkwardly shrugged away, finally noticing that Eleanor was getting really close. Said girl frowned, feeling a little hurt. "What's wrong?"

"Eleanor . . ." Louis took a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, he didn't look at Eleanor. He glanced over at Niall, who was still obliviously smiling. His eyes were shining, too, reflecting in the light in the hallway. Louis' heart jumped at the sight of him. "I've got to tell you something. It's, eh, it's pretty important."

"Okay." Eleanor said a little longingly in a tone that said she was waiting for Louis to continue. She didn't push Louis into telling her immediately, however, giving Louis a few seconds to catch his breath. She could tell he was nervous now.

"I-I love Niall. I mean, obviously I love him, but I-I love him." Louis stuttered out, quick and almost to the point where his words were incoherent. He was expecting Eleanor to slap him or start yelling, but all she did was smile lightly.

"Yeah." Eleanor said. It sounded like she had been expecting Louis to say that, and what she said next confirmed that she had. "I thought so."

"What?" Louis breathed, relieved and guilty and confused all at the same time. If Eleanor knew that Louis was in love with Niall and not her, why didn't she break up with him? Why was she so calm about it? Louis didn't expect her to freak out, but he expected a bit of a bad reaction. This was coming from Eleanor, though, the only girl he knew who was calm and collected in every situation.

"You and Niall," Eleanor paused, tears welling up in her eyes. "Louis and Niall ... it makes sense.... There was no way you two ... were just friends." Eleanor took small pauses between her words to push back her tears. Her voice cracked on the last word, and Louis broke a little bit.

"Ellie," Louis sighed. Eleanor's heart skipped a beat at the nickname Louis had come up for her, but Louis was too consumed in his own guilt to notice the slight shift in Eleano'r mood. He felt awful. He knew he was breaking this girl's heart, and that was one of the last things he wanted to do. "I'm so sorry-"

"No." Eleanor said. "No, no, no. Don't be sorry. You're not allowed to be sorry. Don't you worry about me, okay? I love you too much to explain, but there's someone who loves you just the same as I do- someone that can make you happier than I ever will." Eleanor paused. "And Niall's that person. You need him, you only want me."

Louis' eyes widened a little bit, little enough that Eleanor didn't notice. He hadn't even realized that himself, and Eleanor had just put it into words for him. "You don't need me." Louis loved Eleanor's words. He hated to think it, but that was something Niall didn't have. Good words, like hers.

"I still love you, Eleanor," It wasn't a lie- not at all. He definitely loved the girl in front of him, no doubt about it. "I really do, but I . . ."

"You love him more." Eleanor nodded, the faint smile still on her lips. "That's alright. Go to him. He's . . . he's waiting for you." Eleanor leaned up to give Louis a small kiss on the cheek. "Take good care of him, yeah?"

"Yeah." Louis said quietly. He smiled and gave Eleanor's hand a light squeeze. The he turned, walking over to the boy Eleanor wished she could be.

"Niall." Louis smiled down at the blonde boy, who was sitting on the floor. Louis' hands were in his pockets. Niall looked up at him, wonder in his eyes; how did it go?

And Louis knew right then that he didn't need Eleanor's words. Niall spoke with his eyes- his beautiful, beautiful eyes, and Louis didn't need anything more than that. He didn't need anything more than him. He still had Eleanor as a friend, anyhow, and he knew she would always be there.

Louis pulled his hands out of his pockets, reaching out to take Niall's and pull him up. Louis didn't care that there were people around, and once Louis' lips were on his, Niall didn't care, either.

Eleanor was sat near them, now, right next Danielle, who was covering her mouth to hold in the squeal trying to escape her throat. Perrie wrapped an arm around Eleanor, who was smiling as she wiped away tears. Louis and Niall both smiled as they pulled away from each other, and Louis leaned down to grab their book-bags.

"Let's go to class now, shall we?" Louis said, slipping Niall's book bag over the blonde's shoulder. "We're five minutes late."

So that was a pretty stupid ending. It's technically not over yet, since I'm going to do a few chapters of Niall and Louis just being a couple (cause I'm trying to make up for the lack of Nouis action in this Nouis fanfic omg). There isn't gonna be any drama (not really) and it will come off as a bit boring, so you can just skip to the epilogue because the next chapters won't change anything at all.
