Today is the day, the day I start over. Have a new life. A new beginning. Am I scared? Hell yes. Am I going to miss my family? Hell no. I've put up with them for too long, and I don't want anything to do with them any longer. Do I love them? Yes, and I know I always will.
I heard the taxi driver honk, so I picked up my bags and walk to the door. Unluckily, my father was standing there, with a bottle of beer in hand. I rolled my eyes, and politely asked him to move. He belched, and said
"Lis, I love ya. I really-" burp "-do. You can't leave us, ya know? You-you're too beautiful." He stroked my hair, and then I smiled; I was giving into his guilt. Then he slapped me across the face, and laughed.
"Lissy, you've always been a-" hiccup "-disappointment to all of us. We expect so much better. You can't leave us though, 'cos you kinda pick up my beer, and without ya, who'll get my beer, ya know?" I darted out the door, and apologized to the taxi driver for causing him to wait, and gave him a ten dollar bill. I threw my stuff in the trunk, and hopped in the car.
I didn't even look back at the house, I just told the driver to drive me to the airport, and off I went. I didn't want anything to do with those people anymore. I wanted to forget them, and move on, and this was the first step: leaving.
