I waited for nearly half an hour and there was no sign of Ahmed. I kept questioning what I was doing here in the first place. I should be home by now lying on my bed listening to Taylor Swift. I was interrupted from my thought when a ball came hitting right my back. I looked back to find two small boys coming running towards me. They smiled at me and got hold of the ball after apologizing. I just felt everything changing around me. People were smiling at me, I was doing something out of my everyday routine.
"So, am I late?" I knew it was him. Only Ahmed could start up a conversation out of nowhere.
"Well, it's been around an hour. Are you late?" I asked him getting up from where I sat.
He just sat there and smiled at me. I asked him where we are eating from
"We will eat from here. I got some homemade noodles and fried chicken." He displayed the tiffin in his hand.
I at by his side and helped him open up the food. We ate silently. The waves were speaking well enough. Frequently we would speak some random stuff.
"So what have you planned about your trip?" he asked.
I kept quiet about that. I didn't have people asking me what I was after. I simply continued gazing into the ocean. Nature is so favorable. They are still but observant. They might have discovered a world very much unknown to us.
"I shouldn't have asked, I guess." He looked at me and smiled.
"I don't know if I should go. I have been to Delhi once, so I have seen the place. It would be just memories flooding back and am not really fond of those." I told him not looking at him
" When did you go last time?" he asked all excited.
" I think I was 5 or something. A family vacation for two weeks." Some of the memories flashed in front of me.
" I would say you go with your classmate. You never know what waits for you girl." He did have a point.
We talked for few hours and he dropped me at my place. I called my class president and registered my name. He delivers a spark in him that could even make Ayesha eat an egg. I wonder where she is now. It has been a while, she left home. I wonder what she saw in that white boy. Mom wouldn't have been mentally down had she not left. Ahmed made me talk a lot. I wonder how he did that.
The beach has its mode of persuading, no wonder he picked out the spot. He talked about his family much. He is eagerly waiting to go back. Few more weeks and he is leaving. I had completely forgotten about my project. I can't figure anything for that. Possibly I should do about Ahmed. He has prompted me to do something at least.
The next morning I had someone ring my bell early morning. I woke up and went to open the door to see Ramya trying to catch breath.
"Are you okay?" she asked me
"I am perfect. I guess. Did you run all the way here or what?" I Got her some water.
"You sure you are okay? Ahmed called me and told me you're in trouble." She took out her phone and dialled his number.
I was in utter confusion of what was going on around. I was still half sleepy and nothing was making any sense. I waited for an answer from Ramya. I heard the bell ring again.
