Ruby stood hidden in the shadow of an alley, looking up at a circle of Decepticons. Her heart almost stopped altogether when she saw the Autobots sat in the middle, their hands on their heads. Prisoners of war.

With speed so fast she almost missed it, one of the Decepticons shot Q down. Her jaw dropped and she froze, unable to believe her eyes. Her hand moved to touch the necklace Ironhide had made for her. The red gem felt smooth and cool under her touch. The ache that had been quietly simmering in her chest exploded. No more Autobots would die.

Suddenly surging with anger and pain, Ruby hurtled forward. She forgot about her gun; instead she drew back her arm as she went and threw an energy pulse with all the strength she could muster. It struck the murderous decepticon and obliterated him completely with a mighty boom that echoed around the city. A short silence followed.

Bumble Bee was the first to move. The autobots leapt into action, turning on their captors with refreshed strength and taking them down. A huge battle erupted so quickly Ruby was sure she must have passed out on her feet for a while.

The NEST team flooded into the street. Snipers began firing from above and more Decepticons dropped out of the sky. The noise was deafening; bullets were flying from every direction. Ruby was anxious to storm through the battle like a whirl wind, and end it, but Carly appeared in front of her.

"Ruby!" she gasped, her frightened eyes brimming with tears, "We have to get out of here!"

"No! I need to end this!" cried Ruby, preparing to jump.

Carly grabbed hold of her arm, "But you're hurt, look!" Carly pointed behind Ruby, forcing her to see the trail of blood she had left. Ruby gazed at it, frowning. She followed the trail with her eyes, until she found herself looking straight at an on-coming alien ship.

"GET DOWN!" Ruby practically tackled Carly to the ground, specking her white jacket with spots of blood. The ship squealed overhead, dangerously close to the ground, forcing the girls to lie flat. Ruby's heart pounded in her chest with anticipation. Struggling to keep her arm steady, Ruby twisted her wrist in one, sharp movement.

The ship barely reached the end of the street when it flipped upside down and ploughed straight into the ground. She didn't even hear the crash above the sounds of the battle, but the wind blew the fumes back down street. They burnt so strongly that Ruby could taste the gas; like her mouth had been filled with acid. Before Carly could stop her again, Ruby jumped up and raced off, soon becoming lost within the battle.

Everything felt surreal. Carly was sure that she must be in some kind of bizarre dream. A strange sense of calm settled over her. Her vision was still blurry from forgotten tears, and her balance was a bit off. Her heels hurt her feet like hell. She wasn't sure where she was going, nor was she looking where she was going. She tripped over something, ending up sprawled on the ground, but unhurt.

She was about to mutter something under her breath, when a deep, rumbling growl sounded from above her with such base her teeth rattled. Carly's breath caught in her throat and she didn't dare move.

"Come to surrender, fleshling?" said Megatron in his curdling voice.

Slowly, Carly picked herself up and saw that she had fallen over a piece of metal hanging off of his leg. Careful not to make any sudden movements, she turned to look up at him.

Megatron was a mess. He sat against the wall like it took too much effort to stand, and was a sickly brown colour.

"Was it all worth it then?" said Carly crossly, hot anger bubbling up in her stomach to her mouth.

She bravely walked towards him, climbing onto a nearby skip to reach his eye level.

"Obviously," he drawled, dragging out the word and following her movement closely with his sinister red eyes.

"All your work to bring Sentinel back," spat Carly, the volume of her voice rising, "And now clearly he has all the power! It's actually almost tragic,"

Megatron snarled, "You DARE lecture me slave!"

Carly stumbled backwards as the skip trembled, but she wasn't fazed.

"Your decepticons, finally conquering this planet, and yet their leader won't be YOU!" she shot at him.

"It will be me!" cried Megatron, "It will always be me!"

"Think about it for one moment," said Carly, lowering her voice, "Any moment now, you'll be nothing more than Sentinel's BITCH!"

Megatron roared and got to his feet. Carly shrunk backwards, bracing herself against his fury. But he did not attack her. He transformed into an odd-looking rusty jet and sped off, his engine idling loudly.

Carly let out a huge sigh of relief.
