Let's give an example of this.

My name is Janice Pinkham and I go to Montclair Prep Collage. There's a bully at school called Michael and he hits me and kicks me and hurts me really badly.

One day I go to school and I sadly bump into him and he pushes me against the wall and beats me up. I try to get away but he's too strong.

He's actually kind of sexy but he's mean so I can't go out with him. But I think I'm falling in love with him.

Let's stop there, shall we? Okay, clearly I exaggerated it, but you can see where I'm coming from. What girl would fall in love with her bully?

Clue's in the name – "bully".

So ... what exactly made you fall in love with your bully, Janice?

Was the way he smashed your face in just irresistible?

Or maybe the way he spat on you was sexy?

Hey! Maybe it was the way he called you a "slutty bitch" that you found attractive.

Enough of the falling in love. Let's talk about Michael's character.

Michael ... as a bully.

Well ... he was nothing like that in real life, but it's okay to change his personality for the purpose of a story. IT IS MADE UP, so it doesn't matter about his personality.

Honestly, I've seen rant books which make it seem illegal to change Michael's personality even a little bit.

If Michael was a sensitive little sweetheart in every story, then trust me, I would get bored within seconds.

Of course, I love sweetheart Michael, but you gotta admit that the edgy, rebellious bad boy Michael is sexy too ... right?

So ... change his personality as much as you like. I don't mind that at all. At the end of the day, it's your story, so you can make Michael how you like.

... Just don't say "Based on real life" cos then I will slap you across the face with Michael's Glitter Glove. 😂

Fanfic writers ... don't let a victim fall in love with their bully unless there's an exceptionally valid reason for it.

In my story You Ain't Bad, I like to think I avoided it being awful by making Michael ... not really bad. He acted tough in front of his gang buddies, but once he was alone with the main girl, his real self kind of came out.

See what I mean? That's okay ... right?

Anyway ... enough ranting from me. 😂
