Chapter 1
Kayla's pov

I clench my jaw right as I watch the group of 'popular girls' aka sluts and 'jock' aka man whores laugh and talk as if they don't ruin people's life.

Troy saw me getting all worked up and quickly sat down next to me, setting his tray down with a little, clink, "remember, stay calm, we don't want trouble"

"Maybe you don't" I told him sharply through clenched teeth. They've never really hurt me physically before, probably because my father is the super attended of the schools.

Troy just rolled his eyes and sighed. Troy wasn't the person you would expect to be hanging out with a shy, quiet and nerd like me, he was slightly muscular, fairly good looks and could get any girl he wanted, but he was gay, so therefor he was an outcast...like me.

"Troy, I need to take a smoke" I whisper to him "cover for me?" I asked "what am I supposed to say?" He whispered back, "say I fell asleep studying" I told him, he just nodded.

It was the perfect excuse, the teachers think I stay up all night studying anyway.

"Thanks Troy" I tell him as I put away my tray and walk outside, to the woods behind the school.

Ah the woods, the one place where I could truly be me, no worries just me and a cigarette.

I chuckled to myself as I said out loud in a sing songy voice "hello darkness, my old friend" as I walked deeper into the woods, the trees getting higher and denser.

Troy had once told me that cigarettes would kill me one day I told him "the sooner the fucking better....."

I took a hit of my cigarette "when I'm fucked up I'm the real me"
