Chapter 5: Brendan's POV

Everyone was curling up on the couch to watch The Visit .

The girls took forever to do whatever they were doing, and they came down wearing onesies.

"Wow," I said, thinking, Alex looks super cute with her messy bun and a dinosaur onesie.

Alex gawked at all the snacks on the table. "Where'd you get all of this?"

Kaz poked at a bag of popcorn. "We can't live without snacks, so I went down to the dollar store and bought more."

Dani plopped down beside Kaz, got a paper plate, and started putting snacks on the plate. "Good enough for me!"

Alex sat beside me, drinking a bottle of water. She tucked her knees under her chin and wrapped her arms around her knees.

"You're not gonna have any snacks?" Kaz asks.

"Not right now, in a minute," She says, looking down on her black bunny slippers.

Her head pops up, and she's smiling now. "Okay, let's get watching!"

Dani whoops and hollers while Kaz hits play.

We make sarcastic comments when we can, and I put my arm around Alex. She leans into me, putting her head on my shoulder.

Then the scary parts come in. When something happened, like a jump-scare or something creepy, Alex ducked her head and buried it into my arm/side. She made little high-pitched  squeals, too.

When the movie was over, everyone was comfortable and didn't want to get up.

"It's only, like, 11pm. We can watch more movies," Kaz suggested.

"I set up Netflix on there. We can find something," Alex said.

"Netflix and chill?" Dani joked. We all laughed.

Alex scrolled through Netflix, and we decided to watch American Horror Story.

"Never seen it," Kaz said. "Sounds cool, will you be able to handle it, Alex?" He teased.

"I've watched and rewatched all four seasons on here many times," Alex said proudly. "It's my favorite show. Now, none of the seasons connect to each  other, except two and four.  Which do you want to start with?"

"What are the season titles?" I asked.

"Season one is Murder House, season two is Asylum, three is Coven, and four is Freak Show. Season five, Hotel, is on live TV at the moment, so it's not on Netflix yet." She informs us.

"I vote Freak Show," Dani says.

"No way! Murder House!" Kaz lightly twists Dani's ponytail.

"I say we watch Coven," I say.

We all look at Alex.

"What?" She asks.

"What's your favorite season?" Dani asks.

"Coven," She replies automatically.

"Then we should watch that," I suggest.

Alex clicks the first episode. "Oh and Dani? There's a very cute actor on this series, his name is Evan Peters. You'll like him."

"She has me," Kaz jokes with a big smile. 

Dani ruffles Kaz's hair. "Sure, let's go with that."

Kaz pretends to look upset. "I'm hurt!"

Dani wiggles her eyebrows. "In which way?"

Alex laughs and sighs. "Watching this lovefest is enough of an American Horror Story."

"Yep," I agree.

"Okay, okay, we'll contain it." Kaz jokes.

"You better," Alex un-pauses the episode and the theme song plays through. She sits next to me, and it's a small couch, she's inbetween me and Dani.

It's around 4am, and everyone is asleep. They must've fallen asleep, because Netflix displayed the "Are You Still Watching: American Horror Story?" selection on the screen. I was awoken by Dani's dog, Aero, sniffing my leg with a cold and wet nose.

Kaz was draped across Dani's lap, and Alex on mine.

Then the sudden realization hit me. Alex was on my lap. 

Luna, Alex's cat, sneezed, and  hopped onto Dani. 

"Snickerdoodles!" Dani woke up and half-shouted and Luna only looked up at her. When Dani realized it was only Luna, she pet the cat, and looked at me. "Why are you awake?"

"Aero was sniffing my leg and his nose was cold and wet," I explained.

Alex laughed suddenly. "Snickerdoodles?  Really?"

"You were awake?" Dani asked sheepishly.

"I woke up when Luna sneezed," Alex said. "I was too lazy and comfortable to wake up. Which is why I'm still on Brendan's lap."

"You're gonna give him a boner!" Kaz suddenly called out.

"When did you wake up?" Dani asked, patting his head.

"When you screamed, 'snickerdoodles'." He chuckled.

Alex was halfway asleep on my lap when she said, "The profanity!"

I laughed and ruffled her hair. "I'm going back to bed."

"Are you going to your room?" Alex asks me.

"Not if-" I begin but got interrupted.

"Yes, then you'll have beautiful children!" Kaz says.

Alex winks and says, "No way in hell, not right now."

"As I was saying, I don't have to," I continued.

"But the beautiful children!" Kaz exclaims.

Dani laughs and wiggles her eyebrows. "You can have beautiful children on the couch, too."

"Okay, don't get too carried away,  now," I say awkwardly.

"Well, there's also a floor, and a table-" Kaz begins, but I shush him once I notice that Alex fell asleep.

"Kaz, shush! Alex fell asleep again."

Dani yawns. "I wanna go to bed. Kaz, carry me," she says, holding up her arms.

Kaz and Dani get up, and she hops onto his back. "Onward, Kaz Pony!" She points upstairs.

They head up, and Dani's dog starts eating crumbs off the floor. I decide not to say anything.

Alex wakes up suddenly. "W-where did they go?" She asks grogily. 

"Upstairs," I say, patting her head.

"Oh," She yawns. "Okay. I can go if you want."

"I can take you upstairs," I offer.

"I'm too heavy for that. But I can walk," She says. She gets up, and then plops back onto the floor. "Actually, nevermind. I'll hang out down here."

I pick her up and carry her upstairs, while she's giggling sleepily. I put her on her bed in her room. 

"Well, goodnight," I say and begin walking out the door. 

"Night-night," She says, and falls asleep again.
