After putting Dani to bed, the rest of us started to settle down, mostly because Kaz yelled at Brendan and I.

"Dani is gonna get brain damage if you guys don't settle down," Kaz glared.

"Okay, we know you like her or whatever, but the world is not named Dani and it doesn't revolve around her," Brendan wagged a finger.

"Just tone it down," Kaz said. "I'm tired."

"Sleep then, you old fart," I said.

He went upstairs to check on Dani for the millionth time in the past five minutes.

"Dude," I went over to her door and guarded it. "She's not a toddler. She's not your girlfriend. Give her space. You're being a total creep."

Kaz shook his head. "I guess. I don't know."

I squealed a bit. "I ship it," I whispered under my breath."

"I heard that," Kaz said, sort of defensively.

"I ship it!" Brendan called up the stairs.

Inside her room, Dani barfed in her trash can. "Alex... Pill me."

I walk in with my pills to help hangovers and give her two with a glass of water. Kaz runs in like his child was on fire and put a warm, damp towel on her forehead.

Dani drifts off to sleep again, and I glare at Kaz. "This isn't the 1940's, you don't need to put a towel on her head."

"Well, excuse me," He says and sits in Dani's chair. "I'm just gonna sit here and make sure she doesn't barf a liver."

"Creep," I joke as I walk out.

Aero, Dani's dog, walks out, following behind me, and nudges my leg.

"What? Oh, hi. You hungry, or what?" I pat his head.

In the kitchen, I fill his food bowl, and when I turn back, Aero is upstairs at Dani's door.

From inside, I hear Dani shout, "It's just a door..." Followed by Kaz's shushing and fussing as if she were a piece of diamond falling into some fat guy's burger.

I let Aero in, and set his food bowl inside. Kaz motions me to sit on the floor beside him. "Get Brendan," He tells me.

"Brendan!" I call. "Mister Fussy Pants wants you!"

Kaz laughed and looked at me. "You stay, too."

I roll my eyes. "Ah, hell."

Brendan walks in, looks at us, and says, "What's going on? Are you secretly a spy and you need us to help?"

"Get your drunk ass on the floor," Kaz laughs and points beside me.

Dani pats my head and Brendan's head. "Hats..." She whispers.

I set her hand on her bed. "Yes, very smart. Now hush."

"Yes, Captain!" She exclaims, still not sober.

Kaz looks at us very seriously. "Classes start in a week and she's already drinking to the point where she's naming your basic clothing items-"

"Shut it, Science Man. Just get to it," I yawn. If it isn't Bill Nye, it's not worth my time.

Brendan laughs. "I get what you mean. Just restrict her from it."

Kaz looks around, thinking a bit. "How though?"

I sigh, irritated. "She isn't a fragile thing that's going to break if you breathe on it, okay? You need to loosen up. I just got away from over protective fuss that happened around me. We're in college, this is where the real world starts. She's 18. Treat her like it."
