I woke up by myself today. What a big surprise. As I checked my calendar, I notice the date.
"It's my BIRTHDAY!!" I screamed.
Mom and Dad opened the door and I saw them holding a chocolate chip pancake tower.
"Pancakes! My favorite! Thank you Mom and Dad! You guys are the best."
I hugged them tight. I ate my pancake tower until the very last bite. It was so good. After eating, I got ready for school. Maybe today would be better than yesterday. Maybe. I went downstairs to pack my bag. I kissed Mom and Dad good-bye. As I stepped out outside, a cool breeze hit me. The school bus came early. I sat at the first sit. The random school boy sat next to me.
"Hi... Um. What's your name?" I asked politely.
"David. You?" He asked.
"I'm Monika." I replied with a smile.
I think he was trying to make a conversation with me. At first, we were a little awkward, but after a few laughs, we instantly connected. During Math and English class, we would help each other in our group activites.
"Finally. A friend." I thought to myself.
The lunch bell rang and everyone rushed to the canteen. David and I ate our lunch while chatting.
"Wanna come over?" He asked me.
"Sure! Tomorrow?" I asked.
"Great!" He replied.
Lunch time passed and soon it was Science time. We needed to find a partner for a short activity. Of course, David picked me and I picked David. We had to prepare a brief presentation about matter. David was actually really good at drawing.
"You have a really nice font." He said.
"Haha. Thanks! Your drawings are awesome." I replied.
When it was our turn to present, we showed our drawings about matter.
"Matter helps us in so many ways." I said.
"Yes. Matter is all around us." David added.
Our Science teacher gave us an A+.
"Good job!" He said.
"You too." I replied.
The school bus picked me up and sent me home. Home sweet home. As I stepped in, I put my bag on a chair and rested. Mom kissed my forehead and joined me on the couch. I told her about David.
"He seems like a nice young man." Mom said.
"Well... Can I go to his house tomorrow?" I asked nervously.
"Why not? Just be careful Dear." Mom replied.
"Thank you Mom!!!"
I kissed her cheek. Dad went downstairs to check why Mom and I were talking.
"Honey, your daughter will go to David's house tomorrow. I hope that's fine with you." Mom said.
"Just be safe Dear. Don't be anything stupid." Dad said.
"Of course I won't. I know what's right and wrong." I replied.
I grabbed an apple and went to my room. After finishing that sweet apple, I took a warm shower and changed to my fluffy PJs. I grabbed my old notebook and started doodling and practicing my drawing skills. I'm kinda jealous of David awesome drawings.
After a few minutes, Dad called me and said, "Monika! Time to eat supper!"
I went downstairs and smelled a savory scent. Mom roasted chicken. Every bite of it was like heaven. After washing the dishes, I said good night to Mom and Dad. I went upstairs and brushed my teeth. After a few minutes of browsing the internet, I went to sleep.
