Ember's P.O.V.
I didn't sleep much the first night due to the groaners outside and just being in a new place. There was also this fear in the back of my head that they were going to kill me in my sleep to eat me or something but I pushed that fear aside after I saw how much food they had and how excited they were to see another girl.I managed to get some sleep around what I estimated should have been about two in the morning. I was awakened by Drake getting ready in the morning. I woke up seeing that he was only in his boxer shorts and quickly closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep again. He walked over and stood over me for a few seconds before gently placing his hand on my shoulder and giving me a little shake saying "Hey newbie, time to wake up."
I stretched my arms out and yawned trying to make it seem like he had actually just woken me up. I asked him what was for breakfast and he said "Whatever we can find on the way to where we are going for your gun lesson. We have to go pretty deep in the woods where there aren't many corpses so that we will be safe." I get a little freaked out remembering that we are going to have to go out there where all of those things that want to tear us apart are and hope that nothing goes wrong. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe," he says with a big smile. I just shake my head and go to Terry's room.
"Hey," she says as I walk in and sit on her bed.
"Hey, do you have anything I can wear today?" I ask. She looks through her drawers and pulls out a black crop top and some Jean booty shorts.
"This?" she asks. I look at her like she is joking and she says "come on Ember you have a nice body, show it off a little! It will be greatly appreciated around here trust me." I sigh and go change, brush my hair, and put on a little makeup.
"Does this look okay?" I ask not feeling very confident.
"Yes, that looks great! Here are some earrings and a necklace I found to go with it! Oh and I was thinking that we should go look for clothes and accessories for you at some stores today, I know some good places to look." She says excitedly.
"Oh actually today Drake was going to give me a gun lesson in the woods, we are getting breakfast on the way so we are leaving soon. Maybe tomorrow?" I say feeling bad.
"You're going to the woods with Drake? Really? Be careful because he is not a good guy. Maybe you should put on some long pants and a turtleneck instead..." She says disappointedly.
"No, I'll be okay. He doesn't seem that bad. But I'm gonna go find him so I'll see you later." I say, leaving the room.
I walk back to mine and Drake's room but instead of seeing Drake sitting there waiting for me I see Jason.
"What are you doing here? Where's Drake?" I ask confused.
"He's downstairs with the guys. I came to talk to you about going with him today. Don't say anything just listen. Drake is not a good guy and I'm worried about you going today with him. He will keep you safe from the dead ones, there is no doubt about that but he won't keep you safe from himself." He says very seriously.
"Well, how do I know that you're not the safe one? I met you yesterday and you are already trying control me," I say.
"How can you even say that when I'm letting you stay in this warehouse with us, eat our food, wear out clothes, and have our protection. I am the leader of all of those guys out there and I make sure one of them is at each lookout station twenty-four seven to keep everyone in this building safe, including you," he says and then starts to walk out.
"Okay look I'm sorry, I know that you took me in when you barely knew me and it means a lot. I guess I was just excited to see people and got a little carried away. I won't go if you don't want me to. I'll stay and help out like the rest of the group," I said feeling bad.
