Hello. I hope you liked the previous chapter. I have quite a problem now. I am absolutely terrible at doing covers and the fact that I'm typing all this on my phone doesn't help either. I'm quite new to wattpad and I'll be honoured if anyone can help me. Thank you! ;-)

Oh and I am dedicating this chapter to an amazing writer. She was also the first one to comment on this book. Please try to check out her books if you can. Once again, thank you.

Artemis's Side (NOT HIS POV)

Artemis stared at the wall, his eyes unfocused. It was quite obvious that he was deeply immersed in his thoughts. He had been acting this way since he 'died' and was 'reborn'. Dr. Argon at the clinic at Haven had assured the Fowls and Butlers that this was merely a way for him to catch up with the events in his life. Neverthless, Holly, Butler, Foaly, Juliet, Mr and Mrs Fowl, Myles and Beckett and even Commander Kelp kept a close eye on Artemis Fowl the Second. It had been one and a half years since the defeat of Opal and yet the fairy and human world was still trying to rebuild itself.

Suddenly, Artemis stood up and went down into the kitchen. Butler was chopping greens in such a rapid speed that the knife appeared to be a blur of silver. He looked up to see Artemis standing there looking quite dishevelled and confused. He immediately put down his knife and went over to his charge.

"Is anything wrong, Artemis?" Butler asked the pale Irish teenager.

"Yes, Butler. I'm afraid so. With Father and Mother taking the twins overseas to their favourite resort and Juliet far away in her training academy, I feel rather vulnerable. It is strange, to say the least, but I have a strong feeling that something is going to happen very soon," Artemis replied. Artemis's predictions had yet to be proved wrong, Butler mused. What if he was right this time as well?

"If your prediction happens to be true, then the fairies should be here to witness it, don't you think?" Butler suggested.

"No, old friend. The fairies need not be of assistance just yet. After all, it is only a mere feeling," Artemis countered even though his voice was full of doubt at what he just said. Butler nodded hesitantly and Artemis lapsed into deep thought again. Butler took the silence as an opportunity to check the manor's security. When he returned, Artemis was in his study yet again.

Butler examined his principal throughout dinner. He noticed that Artemis did not look that lanky and uncoordinated anymore. Instead, he looked taller and stronger. All the exercise I forced upon him is paying off, Butler thought, satisfied. He had discovered that Artemis Fowl the Second was best at defence but hopeless at offence.

"If your examination of me is finally over, Butler," Artemis began, never looking up from his plate. Butler grunted something that sounded like 'I'm your bodyguard. What else am I supposed to do?'. Artemis sighed and got up.

"I'll be in-" he started.

"-my study," Butler finished for him in a despairing tone. Artemis simply smiled a smile that did not reach his cold mismatched eyes. As he turned on his heel and left, Butler picked up a phone and dialled a number. He had to talk to someone.
