Artemis's Side

Artemis Fowl knew immediately that the girl had no idea why she was there the moment she came into view. She kept fidgeting nervously and appeared unsure of her actions. He had been listening to her words with Butler and had concluded possible memory loss or that she did not belong in this world. And he confirmed the latter when she met Butler at the door.

"You are Butler. But that's impossible. You are fiction. Nothing more," she muttered to herself.

"I suggest you come in and meet Artemis Fowl," Butler responded.

"No freaking way! Artemis? As in the guy with the fairies? No!" she gasped. Artemis's blood turned into ice. He had been expecting this, of course. He had known that anything so supernatural as this would involve the fairies. But the way this girl spoke made him uncomfortable. Her tone indicated that she knew about all of his adventures with the People. This unsettled him. What made him feel worse was that Butler had attempted to go behind his back and call two of their fairy friends. To think that his old friend did not inform him made him feel truly terrible. He himself had only found out about it when he was viewing the call log of all phones as a safety measure. Currently sitting at his study watching and listening to Butler and the girl through cameras, he felt suspicious of both of them. What else is Butler hiding? he thought.

"D'arvit!" Artemis started with alarm. First the suspicion, then the five-worded thought?

"No, not good at all..." he muttered before mentally slapping himself. Before he could fully analyse his actions, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in, old friend," he called out and cringed. Four words...Death? All thoughts disappeared as the girl entered and looked at him, stunned. She looked familiar. Why? he questioned himself. Then it clicked.

"Lady Rose of the Fauries..." he breathed. The girl stared back. Then she collapsed.

Rosalinda's POV

"What the hell?!?" I gasped out, pain shooting through my limbs as lay immobilised on the floor. He looked at me with slight amusement and concern.

"I don't think swearing will help at all, you know," Artemis chuckled.

Artemis.

Fowl.

Artemis Fowl.

THE ARTEMIS FOWL!!!!!

I was practically freaking out inside my head. He looked like nothing from the graphic novel. In fact, he looked a bit handsome though that could have been because of my stressed brain. I pushed down the havoc in my mind. Okay. Let's assume he's real. Butler's real. Everything in the books are real, I thought. Go with the flow. And I did. It helped a little, accepting everything.

"Why don't you just get up and we can talk?" the Irish genius suggested.

"I would, you knuckle-head. If I could!" I spat at him. Really? I just couldn't move. Spasms of pain shook my body but it was minor so I ignored it.

"Knuckle-head? Butler, if you will." He raised an eyebrow. The nerve of him! But I seriously didn't know where 'knuckle-head' came from though. Butler, who had been standing there with no expression, came over and helped me up. I still couldn't control my limbs and it was annoying me. Move! Idiot, move!

Nothing moved.

Butler basically carried me over to a chair and dumped me onto it. Yes, dumped. Turning up infront of Fowl Manor, appearing shocked at the world and collapsing at his feet apparently didn't gain his pity. But I couldn't blame him. Who wouldn't be suspicious?

"Well, then. Explain, will you?" he asked, leaning back into his chair and staring up at the ceiling. Butler crossed his arms and positioned himself at the door menacingly. I didn't reply. I just thought of everything that had happened. Artemis cleared his throat expectantly. I looked up at him, irritated. Then it hit me.

"It's back, isn't it?" I asked. I watched as he winced slightly and confirmed it.

"Atlantis Complex? Well, it isn't. It can't be. You're in a new body which started anew. That slims chances, doesn't it? I doubt that you have it...It's probably just you're imagination. I wouldn't be really surprised, though. I mean you probably were shocked at my unexpected arrival. Maybe that triggered something?" I rambled on. Artemis raised his hand to stop me.

"Maybe. Maybe not. Whatever it is, I'll deal with it later. Now answer my question," he commanded. I gulped.

"Okay, okay. Chill, dude! I'll tell you...after I sleep. Please? I'm really tired..." I pleaded. I wasn't lying. I was sleeping before I was transported into world-where-damn-genius-called-Artemis-Frickin'-Fowl-is, wasn't I?

Artemis examined me and nodded to Butler.

"Can you walk now?" Butler asked me gruffly.

"Um...Not really, you know?" I replied, embarrassed. I didn't understand what was happening to my body at all. My cheeks flamed as Butler picked me up again and walked out of the room with me in his arms. He carried me into a guest room and, a bit more gently, plopped me onto the bed. He shut the door firmly behind him. I sighed and tried to move into a more comfortable position. No such luck. Resigning myself to a long night, I closed my eyes. To say I fell asleep in seconds was not an exaggeration.
