*Drew's POV* The Next Day

I started to approach the huge mansion that belongs to Pop's and just inside is his wife and daughter, Saviah, but I stop just outside the gate. Me and Pops were close, man. He was a fucking hero to me. And the year before we left the house, he had let us meet his separate family. And Saviah was there.

I don't know why but..... That girl had me. I mean.... I have every girl wrapped around my finger; both human and nonhuman.

A group of girls walk past and I smile my award winning smile. They all giggle and wave back.

Only if it worked on Saviah tho

I finally grew some balls and climbed the gate. If she doesn't want to speak to me, then that's a whole different story. I might hide in her closet till she...

The front door to the house opens and I watch as Pops wife walks down the stairs.

Shit.

I force a warm smile on my face and I make my way towards her.

Act cool. Don't rush it. Make small talk first.

"Good Morning," I said happily.

"What?" She starts to water the rose bushes on her lawn. "What the hell do you want?"

Bitch. I clear my throat and make my smile wider. "I just came to give my condolences." And see your daughter.

She looks up at me. "I don't need your sympathy. He was never there for his family in any way. He was too busy worried about those.... Damned orphans that weren't close to normal."

I stare at her and picture myself smacking the shit out of her. Would I go to jail? Shit, I'll just break out.

But I know Pop's wouldn't want me to. I know Saviah wouldn't neither. I swallow my insults and smile again. "He was like a father to me. I looked up to him. Even if he wasn't there for you and his daughter, he did help thousands of others that couldn't get the help from no where else. And I think that is what its all about."

She stops what she's doing and look at me. Her eyes looked sad. Hurt. "He was gone from his family for two months. And the last time we will ever see him is at a funeral. Do that mean anything to you?"

I stare at her. "Yeah..... I think. But he did love you and his daughter and I know that because he told me and every orphan he came across. He reminded us of how he was leaving his family to come and be with his family. He basically had to be in two places at once."

"So your one of them?" She asks and I nod. "What's so special about you that he couldn't spend time with his own daughter?"

"There's nothing special about me, trust me," I said. "But the one thing he taught us how to do was protect the ones we love." And I love your daughter. "And its my duty to protect you and Saviah."

"How do you... What do we need protection from?"

I step closer to her and look deep into her eyes. Like real deep. Past her emotions and into her thoughts and memories. And I seen it. Everything. "I think you know." And this time she looked worried. Scared. "May I come in?"

As we enter the house, I send a quick text to Jules:

Change in plans. 12:00 Pop's house. I think I got something.
