"Hello beautiful." I roll my eyes at Drew as he walks up to my table. "May I join you?"
"No," I said still not looking at him. But he pulls up a chair anyway. "What's the point in asking me to sit if your going to sit anyway?"
"Because, darling," he starts. "I love the way your cheeks turn pink when ever I speak to you."
I go to punch the living shit out of him when another chair is pulled up to the table.
"Would you two give it a break for two minutes?" I turn and look at Jules and he gives me a hard look.
"Sorry man," Drew says, kicking his feet up on the table. "Love has no pause button. Isn't that right, Rockelle?"
I growl at him. "I told you to never call Me by my name, you blood sucking bastard!" He places a hand over his heart and pretends to be hurt by my words. Jules looks over at the main entrance of Starbucks and frowns.
"Where the hell is she?" He asks more to himself than anyone. "I sent a email to everyone this morning and specifically said to be here 12:00 sharp! And she can't seem to know the difference between 12:00 and 1:30."
He balls his fist angrily and Drew scoots his chair back away from the table.
"Calm down," Drew says. "We don't need you burning Down another coffee shop again."
I look down at the sparks of flames coming from Jules hands. When ever he's angry, he can barely control his anger or the flames that shoot from his hands and even his mouth. Just looking in his eyes I can see how close he is to exploding.
"Don't tell me to calm down," Jules growls at Drew and I decide to jump in.
"She'll be here. And if she don't show up, then she would have a logical explanation on why she can't be here."
Just as I said that, the door flies open and she comes running in. She takes a seat next to Jules and I can already feel the heat coming from him.
"Sorry I'm late," she, Jade, said. "My car was being towed while I was in the library and-"
"Let's start," Jules cuts her off. "I called this meeting to tell everyone in person about the death of... Malcolm." My eyes widened at the news and we all stare at Jules. His face is calm when he says "The location of the funeral can't be said out loud or through email but I was told that we all would be receiving an invite and it would be hand delivered to us personally."
"By who?" Jade asks.
He doesn't answer her question but he does look at her angrily. She wasn't supposed to ask a question like that and when she looks into his eyes, she understood.
"Damn..." Drew breathed. I stare down at my hands and no one speaks. How could this happen? Malcolm, aka Pops, was.... Well.... Like a pops to us. A father. When I ran away from home after killing my own mother, he found me hiding in a shed nearly starving to death. And he took me in. He didn't bother to ask me about my past because he wanted me to first grow comfortable with him. And I did.
He did the same with Jules, but the only difference with him was, his parents gave him up to Pops directly. But the only unknown thing was which parent gave him up. Before we left the house and went our own separate ways, he told Jules everything and Jules never spoke of it. Ever.
Drew parents were killed during a fire in the woods. He was only a baby when it happened and no one, not even Pops, can come up with an explanation of how he survived and lived by himself in the woods for so long. Until I came across him. And that's a whole different story that I hate revisiting whenever someone wants to know how we met.
And Jade..... She was bought to us by mistake. She was sixteen when she became one of us and we all believed she was a human. And she was. Until she shocked us all when she summoned a demon by accident and scared the shit out of all of us.
And actually had an effect on Jules. But I don't want to get into THAT neither.
We all agreed to meet up tomorrow at Jules place at 12:00 sharp. Jules gave Jade a daring look and exaggerated the "sharp". She nodded and we all went our separate ways.
I think.
