CHAPTER 1: The early moon
"I can't believe school is finally over!" Casey mumbles to herself. "I finally might get to go to camp, if, I'm good" She dazes out the window, thinking about how much fun it will be if she actually gets to go. She brushes her bleach blonde hair out of her face so she can see.
Casey's mom walks into her room. "Casey! Your room is a complete and utter mess!" Casey's mom picks up peices of paper up off her floor to prove. "And could you please, cut those bangs of yours they are always in your face!" Casey shyly puts her hand over her bangs.
After her mom finishes her lecture, Casey pulls out her favorite book, The early moon. It is a tale about teens at camp enjoying a sunset campfire. But suddenly the sunset becomes a dark moon. "It's not supposed to be this dark yet" says one of the teens.
They ignore what he says and keep roasting marshmallows. Suddenly it becomes bright as day. And the teen warns them again, then time stops. With only that one teen not frozen in time. He starts to panic, yelling for help.
Time starts again, he turns around and one of the other teens has a tight grip on his shoulder. "Uh, what are you doing? That hurts." He looks at their faces, astonished, they look to be burnt, but not by the sun, by the moon.
Each of their faces is glowing white with dark black eyes, and the light changes with the moon. "Oh my god, what happened?" He screams, still paralyzed by their looks. "We are no longer our selves, we are the moon's subjects. We obey only the evil moon."
As he is still amazed he thinks they are no threat, until he realizes that he still has a grip on his shoulder, that is getting tighter and tighter cutting off the circulation of his arm. "How come I didn't turn into one of you?" Trying to distract his friends from hurting him.
"You realized what was happening, we didn't." He is still confused about why. "Now you have to pay for not coming to the dark side of the moon."
He has to live the rest of his life watching out for the moon subjects, and has no friends. Every time he makes a new friend, everything repeats itself.
He can only stop the curse by coming to the dark side of the moon or letting them kill him.
Casey slams the book shut. "Ah, that book gives me the shivers! But, I love it!" Casey has read that story over and over but enjoys the thrill she gets each time. "I am so glad that these are a thing, but defiantly I don't want them real"
"Casey, time for dinner!" Casey's mom yells from downstairs.
"I'm coming mom!" Casey throws the book onto her bed and scurries downstairs.
Casey gobbles up her dinner. "Casey! Slow down, you are eating like you have been starving for days!" Casey's dad said while laughing. "You have been eating right? Oh I'm just kidding!" Casey laughs and slows down, a bit.
"Dad. Mom.Was I maybe, good enough to go camping? Please?" Casey practically begging on her knees.
"Oh Casey, I don't know. What do you think Carol?" Stroking his chin.
"Well she was a good girl this year, she never got grounded. What were your grades Casey?" Says her mom not sure of herself.
"Oh they were all As and Bs! That's good, nobody got all As!" Almost crying. "All my friends are, PLEASE?"
"George, I think we can let her go, but she has to pay half the fee, agreed?" Casey's mom says stern.
Agreed says both of them.
She packs her suit case with all the necessities, and money, sandals, a bug net, and her favorite book.
She notices something different about the book. "I never thought the moon glowed before! Oh well, you learn something everyday!" She stuffs it into her bag, and throws it in the car.
