"Wait!" I yell, not able to keep up. My hair whips in all different directions from the nice, cool, afternoon  wind. I run and run over fallen twigs and branches, trying to keep up with Taylor's tiny and inhumanly fast legs.

"Get back here!" I see her long brown hair also whipping in different directions, as I start to catch up to her. I grab her thin wrist and spin her around so she's facing me.

"Gotcha," I say with a playful smirk as she giggles. We sit down on the dirt floor of the woods under a big live oak tree, and lean up against the scratchy trunk.

"You're pretty good at playing tag," I say with a laugh in between. She also laughs as she lays on her back and lets her head rest on my lap as she looks up at me with a beaming smile. I lay my head back on the trunk and look at the sun-lit sky as I run my fingers through her smooth hair.

"Katrina?" She asks.

"Yeah?"

"Why don't you like it here?" I think for a moment, letting a deep sigh escape my slightly chapped lips.

"I just don't like that it's not home, that's all," I say as I look down at her with a sad smile.

"But this is home," She replies.

"But that's the thing, Taylor. Just because we live here doesn't mean it's our home. I miss Tennessee," I say, starting to get aggravated.

"But you can make any place your home. As long as you and mom are with me, I call it home. I like it here," she says looking up at the sky.

I let another sigh escape my mouth as I lay my head back on the trunk again. I feel the slight twinge of pain in my chest that I always get when i'm about to cry. I miss my home, and I miss my friends. But maybe she had a point. But I still couldn't help but feel like I didn't belong here.

"Hey, we should get back. It's probably about time for dinner," I say.

"Okay," She says with a grumble. "But can we come out here again? I like it out here," She says as her little eyes light up.

I laugh and stand up as I say, "Sure. How about tomorrow?"

"Sure," She says as we walk back to the house, admiring the sun rays coming in through the cracks of the trees.

"I love you," I say to her. That's something I haven't said to her in a while.

"Love you too," She replies as she reaches up to hold my hand.

As she held my hand, that slight pain in my chest faded away. Maybe I don't exactly like it here, but I was kind of excited to see the other good memories I would make in these woods.
