A Month Before

The Beacon Hills cemetery remained silent, a small, unofficial ceremony under way below the gloomy gray clouds of mid November.

Chris and Isaac had tickets for France in six hours.

Lydia and Kira had small mementos from Allison's room.

Scott and Stiles had new ties.

They all had things, but they had no hope.

They had no Allison, and that was just the same.

The group of six stood in front of a polished gravestone, placed between Kate and Victoria's. The earth around it was fresh, a casket six feet below them with Allison's resting body within.

Each held a red rose, Allison's favorite despite how cliché it seemed.

Lydia, in a sleek black dress, laid the rose next to the headstone with tears in her eyes. I hope you're okay.

Kira put her rose down, I hope you're at peace.

Hope after hope after hope until the grave was filled with roses.

All of it was for Allison, but none of it for themselves.

The next day, the Grangers moved to Beacon Hills.
