Chapter 5
Jay
I felt a pang of sorrow. My wife, who'd been supposedly taken to death's door, was alive, and which my kids.
"Don't get to excited, Jay. The elves may want us out. You know how they feel about people ever since-"
"I know 'what since,' Kass. Don't remind me." I said, already fuming.
I could feel my face go pale. Ever since the war broke out, I dared remember.
"I don't think we should go over It again, hear me?" I demanded.
Kass seemed taken aback by my tone. I knew I was hardly serious, but this was hardly the time to crack a joke.
"I hear ya." Kass said.
"Quinzipalt?"
Quinzy was taken by surprise. No one called him by his real name. Too much of a mouth full, "I hear ya loud and clear, general."
After a couple of warm up rounds of flying with the dragons, we set off, due north-east. We already had plans of where they were to sleep, eat, and rest.
My dragon, Vira, was in the lead, her blue scales shimmering in sunsets light. Quinzy's dragon, LongTail, was in last, while Kass' in second, whose name was Skenter. As the sun faded behind the earth, the dragons roared to the rising moon. I held back tears of joy, sorrow, and rage.
