The sun was the first thing that she saw when her eyes opened. It's blinding yellow rays welcomed her, warming her back. She gripped onto the grass underneath her, pushing herself up, wobbling a little as she stood. Her legs were stiff, as if she has never walked before, and her mind was blank. She didn't remember her name nor anything about herself. Suddenly she stumbled forward, a black sheet enveloping her mind.
¨I found you!" a little girl dressed in a pink dress exclaimed, pulling at her arms, and dragging her across the floor.
¨NYA! I can get up myself Destiny!" she giggled, stumbling up onto the hardwood floor. Destiny jumped onto the bed, hugging the soft sheets as she squealed.
¨I cannot wait to see what Mama and Papa got for our birthday!" she gushed. A knock on the door, interrupted her celebration.
¨Can we come in?" a sweet voice, her tone so sweet it was dripping in honey.
¨We have a surprise!" a deeper voice said gently, sharing the same tone. Destiny looked over at her, her eyes diamonds as she slid off the bed and took the cold doorknob into her hands. Taking a deep breath, she twisted the doorknob slowly, but opened it hardly, the door banging against the wall.
¨SURPRISE!" two voices said in harmony, a pair of big arms enveloped Destiny, so the only thing you could see was her kicking feet as she squealed in delight. A pair of slender arms pulled the other girl towards a warm body. It was her mother, her pale face nuzzling her tousled hair.
"Happy Birthday," she mumbled, as the little girl hugged back. She let go, as she stared at the girl's grinning face.
"Your turning 6, eh? Daddy and I'll make sure you have the best birthday ever," she assured, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Suddenly, a boom rocketed through her brain, screams rising in her ears.
"AGH!" the loud noise vibrated through her head as she was pushed backwards against a tree. She could feel the wood digging into her back as she squinted at the shady figure that caught her in surprise.
Blue hair was slicked back and he wore armor, that she could tell that was worn by a guard. A sword hung by his side, his hand clasping it.
"Who are you?"

The rain splashed against the window rhythmically, as the carriage halted to a stop in front of a pair of metal gates that towered over the forest.
"Uh...this is as far as I can take you," the driver said, heaving himself off his stool and tying the horses reins around his wrist.
"Thank you, sir, we can go from here," Melody replied, opening the carriage door. As she got out, a blue-haired man followed, Dante, his boots making squishing noises as they buried into the mud.
The carriage soon drove away after Melody gave the man his gold, and she watched after it until it was out of sight. Turning around, Melody looked into the Dante's eyes.
"We're here..." she said, firmly, but inside, butterflies were shedding from their cocoons and flying in my stomach. Dante nodded and patted her back, gently, a reassuring gesture.
"It's alright, Melody, I'm sure your sister will remember you," he reassured, but his voice was shaky as if he was nervous as well.
"How, Dante? It's been 15 years, she must've forgotten me by now," Dante shrugged his shoulders and gave the short girl a small smile,
"You never know,"
Before Melody could respond, spears and swords were pointed at their chests as men in silver armor emerged from the shadows. Emblems were painted on their chests in the symbol of a black cross. Melody instantly recognized them as O'hkasis guards.
"You! Halt! Who are you? Answer in the name of the Lord!" a man in a red cape, asked sternly, his face was fixed into a grimace. The man must never smile.
Melody hid her shaking hands behind her dress and answered with precision in her voice,
¨I am Melody Fate, and I'm here to see my sister,"
The man grunted, and pointed a sword at Dante,
¨Not you. Him. Who are you?"
Dante breathed heavily as he lowered the guard's sword away from his chest. The men stiffened, as if they were preparing for an attack.
¨Ethan...my name is Ethan....," he lied.
¨Last name?¨
Melody covered her mouth with her hand to hide a quiet giggle. Dante looked over at her and scowled, and she quickly lowered her hands back to her waist with a snicker.
¨Chan.....Ethan~Chan....¨ he replied, earning a few snickers from the soldiers. Hesitating, the "head guard" nodded and sheathed his sword.
¨You may pass,¨
Melody gave him a grateful and a quick bow before walking forward to enter the kingdom. Although before she could get past the gates the man hollered once more,
"NOT YOU! Her!!"
She stiffened and turned around to see that Dante was trying to follow her, but was surrounded by a circle of guards with weapons. One of the guards looked down at Dante's sheathed sword and growled.
¨But I need to go--¨
Melody cut him off, knowing the risks of trying to argue,
¨No, Dante. I'll be fine. I'll come back here at sunset. I promise.¨
¨Listen to the girl,¨ said one of the guards in the circle surrounding him. Dante hesitated before letting out a sigh as he gestured for Melody to carry on, and she turned on her heel to enter the gates.
Stepping inside, the gates behind her closed with a bang, shaking the ground beneath her. Walking further into the village, Melody's hand went up to feel the dagger that was hidden in the cuff of her dress sleeve.
No one goes into an enemy kingdom unarmed.
