Srusha's POV:
" And he slowly put all her insecurities to sleep, kissed her on her forehead as she shrugged into his arms"
I sighed flipping the book. Why are these fictional stories so mesmerising, I mean, how can they be so perfect? I've been trying hard to fall asleep every night since years now and I never had a Prince Charming who could do that to me. That reminds me of the time, I picked up my phone to see the time and it was 3:42 A.M. and I couldn't fall asleep yet. This is bad as always. Well, I'm Srusha Reddy, a 19 year old from India and I have been insomniac for years now. I don't basically have any reason behind it, I just don't see myself fall asleep as soon as I get onto the bed. It is a struggle for me every night, a torture! But that's not important, what's more important is we are moving in to our new house tomorrow and I have to wake up early for the rituals, house warming basically and I haven't fallen asleep yet. I flipped myself to the other side to see my mom sleeping, calm and sound. Oh! I'm not a kid but I'm scared to sleep alone so I sleep with my parents. Dad's been sleeping in a different room ever since he's been sick though. I slowly covered my face with the blanket making sure I don't wake her up and shut my eyes tight trying to count sheeps. I do this every night but it rarely works and tonight was one such rare instance. Within seconds, I fell asleep."Shrushaaa", yelled my mom, pulling off my covers and chills passed all through my body. I struggled as I woke up to see that it was still dark outside. Damn these Indian Rituals.
I pulled the covers back to sleep.
"Not today", she said pulling the covers off me again. I sighed. Why does she even do this to me. I should be getting drenched in water in this cold morning and wear that tacky half saree when I all I need in winter is a pull over!! I hated the whole idea of morning showers so I just stood under the shower for a minute and walked out, locked the room door and I wasted a few minutes pretending that I was actually bathing. 20 minutes later, I see myself in this half saree which is basically a peach long skirt with long pink borders, a golden sequin croptop and a long piece of pink fabric, one side of the fabric is tucked into my skirt, the longer side is wrapped around my waist once and is taken onto my right shoulder and is pinned to my crop top letting it fall on my back. I used a few safety pins to set it and I quickly brushed my hair and hurried with my makeup. Not that I am proud of it but I am pretty! A lot of guys said that. I have medium length black hair which is layered, a few acne scars on my cheek bones but I still look cute :P I don't really have a great body, I'm thin and the only thing I'm proud of is my flat belly so you can't call me hot. Well, it did not matter though. Not like I would find a Prince Charming who would deal with a freak like me just because I look pretty. I ran downstairs to join my parents in the car to go to the venue, our new house. Now, I designed this house and it is very special to me as I know I designed it in a way where my parents can live comfortably after my marriage. Oh yes, I'm their only princess and I'm from India, so once I'm married, I leave them and they have to live alone as they have no sons to take care of them. So I wanted everything to be perfect for them. Within a few minutes, we reached our new house which was now decorated with flowers and lights. It was a duplex house with wooden elevation. There was another house next to ours which was constructed along with ours, it belonged to some doctors and they also have their house warming today. Mom says their family visited our house yesterday and they loved the interiors, moms just so proud of my work :D
As I was entering the house, I heard someone calling me.
"Excuse me Excuse me".
I turned around to see a tall, dusky, handsome built up guy. He looked like he was in his teens or just passed his teenage and was running towards me.
"Hey, I'm karthik! Ah, well , we live in that house ", he pointed to the newly constructed house I was talking about, "I.. I need your help", he said gasping and stuttering.
"What help? " I questioned
"Well, I came to your house yesterday and saw that you have a dance room. Can my friends and I use it for a while? See, I know we can go anywhere for it but we don't have time and as you can see, we have house warming today so I don't think my parents will allow me to go. Pleasee?", he requested, scratching his head. I must admit, he was cute!
And, I ofcourse had to make a few friends around me. So, It wasn't such a bad idea. But I cannot let his friends or him know that I dance. These things are very private to me and I don't want to share it with anyone after what has been happening in my life.
"Sure!! But it is not really a dance room. It's for my yoga and also as a gym and home theatre room. So you can use it until the equipments are moved in which will take a while though", I said, stuttering and avoiding eye contact. What a lame cover up. Srushaa, Wow!!
"Oh sure!! Thank you so much, so so much!", he said, smiling in excitement, "Can we come by afternoon?", he questioned, raising his eye brows.
"Sure!!" I nodded.
"Your name?" He questioned as I was turning to walk back. So silly of me. What did he say his name though? Shit Srusha!
