Spencer has gone through a world of hell since she was little. She might seem like she grew up with a normal childhood when in reality it was far from that. As a young girl she looked up to the adults around her for protection, when instead in the 2-3rd grade her uncle turned on her and sexual abused her multiple times. She hid the terror so well no one knew of it. In the 4th grade her mother became ill, making her grow up much faster than her friends. Her childhood went from playing with friends all day to worrying and watching over her mom alone; as her dad had left when he found out he was a father. Her brother moved in with a family friend unable to deal with his mother’s illness.  She lied awake at night terrified of the terror coming back to haunt her. Her mother regained some of her old self but not all. Nathan moved back in shortly after but the household never went back to the way it used to be. At the age of 15 Spencer confided in her long term friend Lacey about her past.

“It’ll be ok. He can’t hurt you anymore; you’re too strong of a person to get hurt.”

She finally opened up to her mom a few nights later. Diane had been at her boyfriend’s house that night but the guilt was eating at Spencer and she couldn’t take it anymore. She was a wreck; unable to talk to her mom she sent her a text message. Diane called after receiving the message, unable to speak herself she softly cried into the phone. Spencer is now 16. Her uncle is behind bars and she’s finally able to move on after 3 months of counseling, but will her past ever really go away? She’s always trusted her guy friend’s and brother. But none of them know of her past, not even Nathan. What will happen when she opens up and spills her deepest secrets to the most popular guy on campus, Kyle, which is also her brother’s best friend? This is Spencer’s life and all that she’s been through.
