I don't really know what to say about today. I woke up early this morning, restless due to the screams I heard in my nightmares. The image of my friends being eaten alive and tossed effortlessly into the side of a rock wall burned into my mind. I swallowed my courage for the day, and left my chambers.
Near the entrance of the treehouse I saw Naycomé. She wasn't wearing a hood anymore, so I could finally make out her face. She looked young. Maybe only twenty-five in basic years. She had tattoos that went down from her eyes to her jaw line. But the most striking feature was her pupils, or rather, the lack thereof. Where color normally was was replaced with a white void. I think she caught me staring from her position cooking some sort of small rodent. I quickly looked down. Whatever magic she used to sling that beast into a mountain was not something I wanted to experience.
"Sleep well?" my hostess asked.
"Yeah... I guess you could say that." She gave a low grunt.
"CB?" Nycomé summoned. From another room the droid I saw yesterday appeared. He had scrape marks along his torso and back. The vibrant yellow and orange paint that decorated his body, however, seemed relatively new for the wear and tear he seemed to have suffered.
"Yes master?" the droid said in an almost gleeful voice.
"Gather supplies from the storage room. Our guest seeks passage to the city of Cronose, and as hosts, it's our duty to guide him."
The bulky droid turned to me. He stared for a second, as if he was trying to read me or something. CB looked back to his master, "It shall be done, Master."
"Thank you, CB." With that the droid marched outside the treehouse.
"He's a good droid," Nycomé turned to me. "A little on the glitchy side, but still good."
"So, how did you two meet?" I asked. "You told me yesterday the trip to the city usually is too much of a hassle."
"I found him," she began. "He was badly injured. Missing an arm and some of his head. Claw marks were all over him." She looked me in the eyes and paused. "Those...monsters. They're related to Rancors. Only they are far more powerful than a normal one. They have fused themselves with the Force."
"The...Force...?" I was astonished.
Nycomé gave a small sigh. "Has the galaxy really aged this much, to forget its own roots?" I gave a confounded look. She saw this and gave a small smile, "I apologize. The Force, it's in every living creature. From tonton to rancor. From rancor to twi'lek. From twil'lek to bith. From bith to human. It binds us all together. It connects us. It guides us." Curiosity began to shine on my face. She continued, "It can even grants some useful abilities." As soon as she finished, Nycomé gestured at a cup that lay on a counter across the room. The cup began to shake, and then floated in the air toward Nycomé. I stared in disbelief of what my eyes saw. Even though I had seen her sling a beast the day before, something was awe inspiring in seeing the minute details of the smallest form of this "Force." She grabbed the cup, took a sip, and released it. The cup continued to float and made its way back to the counter. To my amazement, I noticed that Nycomé didn't even have her eyes open.
The droid came back into the room and broke the silence. "Master Nycomé, I have acquired the supplies we need."
"Thank you CB," Nycomé nodded. "Recharge yourself. We will be leaving for the city in about two hours."
"Yes ma'am," CB replied. The droid excused himself to a dark room at the end of the hall.
"Here," Nycomé handed me a strange stew. "You need to keep up your strength."
