Chapter 21: Her Doctor's appointment

Erin woke up the kids and fixed them breakfast. She had her 20 week appointment in which she could find out the gender. It was the kids' day off from school so She just let them stay at home. Grayson and Shane ran down the stairs racing each other.

"Stop running you two." shouted Erin. Shane and Grayson both sat down at the bar and both ate their pancakes.

"Mom,I have cheer." Shane dropped his fork.

"I have baseball."

Jay walked out the bedroom dressed and ready to go.

"Erin,Ready to go?" He walked into the kitchen and hugged her.

"Yeah,in a minute." Erin grabbed her purse and kissed the kids.

Erin was showing by now. She was happy, she was on maternity leave and she didn't know what to do with a lonely house.

"Jay, if it's a girl Brynleigh Camille Halstead and if it's a boy Kyle Henry James Halstead."

Jay stopped in front of her and kissed her. "I love those names Erin,and thank you for letting me name my son after Kyle. It means a lot."

"Jay, you are my best friend my husband you lost your best friend. I wanna honor him because that's what you would wanna do and I know Shane would appreciate it also."

Erin and Jay walked into the doctor's office. Erin signed herself in and sat down next to Jay. Jay put his arm around her and smiled. Erin placed her hand on her stomach.

"Jay, I love you. And I wanna tell you why I went and lived with Hank after we finish here."

"Erin Halstead!" Erin and Jay got up from the chairs and walked to the room. The nurse told them the doctor would be in shortly. Erin got on the table and lifted her shirt up.

"Erin, you're beautiful even pregnant." Jay got up and kissed her then placed his hand on her stomach.

"Jay, I'm fat." Jay chuckled

"No you aren't." Doctor Raymond walked in the door of the room.

"Hey Mrs. Halstead, how are you today?"

"I'm great. I am ready to find out the gender of my baby."
Jay sat back down and smiled

Doctor Raymond put the gel on her stomach and moved the wand around her round stomach.

"Mr. Halstead, What do you want?"

"A boy. I know it is a boy because I was right about my nephew. I'm gonna be right about my baby." Jay felt a feeling he never felt before saying His baby.

"I want a girl but a boy would be fine."

Doctor Raymond smiled "It's a boy. Congrats Mommy and Daddy!"

Doctor Raymond printed out the picture and handed it to Erin. She wiped the gel off of her stomach then Erin got up and started walking out the door.

"Thank you!" Jay couldn't wipe the smile he had off his face. He was super excited he was having a boy

"I'm taking Shane shopping."

Kim and Adam walked into the doctor's office. Kim say herself down on the table and smiled as the Doctor walked into the room.
"Mrs. Ruzek, Do you wanna find out the gender?"

Kim nodded her head, Doctor Raymond put the gel on her.

"What do you want? Boy or girl?"
"I want a girl but he wants a boy."

Doctor Raymond smiled "It's a girl."

Kim started crying as Adam got up from his seat. He walked over to her and smiled.

Jay and Erin walk into their house. Shane and Grayson were sitting on the couch watching the news. A bomb was set off in Washington D.C.

"Whoa, What happened?" asked Jay

"Someone set off a bomb in DC."

Jay stood in front of him "Shane, Come on bud. Let's go get some new clothes and new shoes."

Shane stood up, grabbed his phone and walked to the door.
"Bye Dad!" Grayson hugged Jay before he walked out the door.

"Why are we leaving?"

"I need you to keep a secret. We are getting the baby clothes because I want to do something special for Erin and I'm doing his room." Shane heard his and smiled

"So it's a boy?"

"Yes and don't tell anyone Erin and I don't want anyone to know yet Grayson doesn't know yet so don't tell her." Shane threw his hands up
"I won't."

Jay pulled into Babies R US ten minutes later. Shane and him got out and walked to the crib and baby furniture department. Jay picked out a dark wooden crib and Shane picked out a Police officer's comforter set for the crib.

"Do you like this?" Asked Shane

Jay nodded his head. "We can get it. Let's go get some clothes for Kyle Henry James Halstead."

Shane smiled when Jay said Kyle.

"I knew you'd name him after my dad. And I like that's you are Dad."

"What do you think? Blackhawk's jersey?" Shane nodded his head

Jay out the jersey in the basket then picked up a couple polo shirts and he picked up a onesie that said "Daddy's Partner in Crime." Then it had some handcuffs on it.
After they finished getting all of it Jay and Shane drove to Home Depot and bought some blue paint then drove home.
Grayson and Erin went clothes shopping. Shane and Jay brought the stuff upstairs and painted the room blue. Erin went upstairs and heard the drill going.

She knocked on the door.
"Jay, What are you two doing?"

"Nothing. I'll be down in a bit." Shane screwed in the screw.

"We'll finish this in the morning. I have the letters for his name and Erin cannot see the room til it's finished got it Shane."

"Alright. I won't tell anyone about this."
Shane put the clothes that they bought into the closet. After they finished it. Jay and Shane walked out the room and locked the door.

"Jay,What were you two doing?"

"Erin, We were just having a guy's night." Shane walked into his room and laid down. Grayson walked into his room.

"You know the gender and Shane Michael you better tell me."

"It's a boy and his name is Kyle Henry James Halstead. You can not tell anyone I told you because I promised Dad."

"You have my word I won't tell anyone and thanks big bro!" Grayson punched his shoulder knocking him off his bed

"Love you too Gray!" Grayson walked out his room. She laid in her bed and feel asleep. Shane sat in his bed holding  his dad's dog tags and the picture of him and his dad. He smiled and remembered the time he spent with him.

"Thank you for letting Uncle Jay adopt me. I love you Dad." Shane put the dog tags around his neck and feel asleep.

"Kim, how about Brynleigh Madelyn Ruzek for her name?"

"Adam, I love her name and we should name her that. I can't wait to meet her."

Adam sat next to his wife and kissed her lips.

"I love you Kim and I can't wait to meet Bryn."
Jay and Erin sat in their bed. Jay had his hand on top of Erin's which was on top of her stomach.

"I can't wait to meet Kyle Henry James." Exclaimed Jay

"Me either Jay." Jay kissed her then they both went to sleep.
